Call around and get some prices from the locksmith first. It might be cheaper than trying to use a screwdriver. Though the parts might be a couple of dollars cheaper. Look at all the time you have to do to change the lock cylinder too.

THen after you get a key, GET A REPLACEMENT made. It cost from 1 - 2 dollars for a magnet box to hide the spare key under the vehicle somewhere incase you ever lock yourself out. I keep a key in my wallet and it has saved me twice now.

you can run a wire from the battery positive terminal to the hot side of the ingition coil, then spark the solenoid with a screw-driver, this will bypass the ingition and make the van think that the key is on and it will start, however you will not be able to drive it anywhere because your steering and gear shifter will still be locked, to drive the van you MUST break the ignition to remove it, and either use a screw-driver to turn the tumbler, or install a new switch, which should be less than $20.00 at your local auto parts store, and it will come with 2 keys. Please put on of the new keys on your key ring, and the other on a hook in your kitchen so that this doesn't happen again!!! I did the same thing with my '85 Ford pick-up, and had to use a screw type dent puller to beat the old ignition lock out of the column! What a pain in the.....neck. Good luck with you van my friend.

Ask your favorite car theft for some help.. the police should be able to give a few references:-)

but yep , the only way would be to drill it out or try and chance a slide hammer but the slide hammer trick sometime destroys the aluminum in the column and if the passenger door is not open a new window also....

And the dealer can't help.. they only have records that go back 10 years (1997) meaning you are out of luck with the dealer

You could hot wire like the other person said, or you could take a flat head screw driver and break the ignition to start it that way. Being that model you can most likely go to the nearest parts house, and tell them you want a ignition switch. It should come with the switch itself, and 2 keys. They are not that expensive either.
