In a nutshell, Hendrick Motorsports dominance. Here is a portion of a recent story at jayski.com talking about the 150th win for them (after the Vegas win last week).

Hendrick Motorsports has earned six NEXTEL Cup championships, giving the organization more titles since 1995 than any other team in major American professional sports. With four World Series rings, the New York Yankees are second during that span, followed by the New England Patriots, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Red Wings, who each have three championships in their respective sports (1995-present). With Johnson's win, Hendrick Motorsports has now earned at least one Cup Series victory in 22 consecutive seasons (1986-present).

And this was from last week, so chalk up another W for them. If Stewart and Jr were winning as many races right now as Jimmie Johnson (and Gordon in the past) you would not hear them crying foul. The amount of success the 48 team is experiencing is due to driving ability, Chad Knaus and the best equipment in Nextel Cup NOT any conspiracy the Frances and Mike Helton have created. It's a rare combination that when it comes together can look as if that particular person is getting some sort of unfair advantage. I would definately say that Jimmie has an advantage but that it is as fair as the rules allow. The rules are a whole other deal and it cannot be denied that they change them to cater to the popular drivers (Tony and Jr) and the biggest teams (Hendrick and Roush).

It is not easy to "rig" a race. However NASCAR does seem to play favorites.
The debris cautions happen when certain teams are not going to make the finish of the race.Grant it debris can show up on the track and can be a hazzard, but if the debris in question is not in the racing grove the what is the reason.
The same can be said for the top 35 in owners points having a starting spot. This was done so if a "major driver" had a poor qualifing day they would be in the show, this is wrong, thus it has been rigged so the major teams are in the field.
But to rig the out come of a race this is brought up year after year and the same results that nothing has happened.
NASCAR is out to make money and if they have to fix their show to make sure that certain major drivers are in the event or they are in the top 10 or 12 in points the rules will be changed to reflect it.
I still feel that the fastest 43 race and the most consistant driver gets the most points. Now those days are long gone as the popularity of the sport grows and the more money invested NASCAR will tweek the rules and the big money will win.

I missed the race this weekend, but I'll put it like this. Anybody who says NASCAR is rigged, if a complete idiot, including the drivers in the past who have claimed that just b/c they couldn't handle that someone else was on top. Now, NASCAR does have a problem with being consistant on the rules and breaking the rules and punishment, which seems to come out as them playing favorites, which they have done a lot, but rigging it is completely ridiculous. To rig a race you would really have to have the cooperation of almost all the drivers in the field, and that will never happen. People need to stop using petty excuses to be jealous, rigged, thats the stupidest thing I've heard.

I believe real NASCAR fans enjoy the racing, no matter who wins.

Nobody blamed rigging and favoritism when Dale Sr. and Richard Petty won 7 championships. Nobdoy blamed rigging and favoritsm when Tony won what, 6 of the 10 chase races last year. Anybody else notice that Terry Labonte won 2 championships 12 years apart? Anybody notice it took Dale Sr. 20 years to win the Daytona 500?

The same people who blame debris cautions on helping what they call NASCAR favorites are the same people who ask where the caution was on the last lap of this years Daytona 500. For those of you who think it's rigged, why do you still watch it? I guess as long as your favorite driver isn't winning, the rest of them are all cheaters.

I suppose the next accusation will be that the accidents that take out the "favorites" are a way to throw suspicion off the governing body.

Congratulations on winning the world's longest run-on sentence. Do your punctuation keys not work from being too sticky? I've seen the sites you like to surf. ;)

Here's the irony to my query: I was pulling for Johnson. And anyone else that might beat #20. But, as a long time fan, this season has seemed more than a little fishy. It IS all about the show when you throw a caution to pick up an imaginary 16oz paper cup. Especially when that clean-up takes 4 laps. There were very few collisions and no one seemed to be missing parts in the last 20 laps. So what other purpose did the caution serve than to stack up the field for a more exciting finish?

As for #20 scraping the wall, I don't think it was intentional, but for him to go from leading Johnson by +1 second to trailing by more than 3 seconds, something seems amiss.

But hey, I'm just a thinker. And a typist. Yer beers gettin' warm Kooter.

I think a lot of people just whine too much is all. I do agree that the points system needs some more adjustment too. It seems so stupid for a driver to stay out one lap while everyone pits and he gets bonus points for it because he led one lap. I think they should give bonus for leading at least 5-10 laps instead. That would give the points to the drivers who race to the front instead of the people who lead one lap and then disappear into the darkness.
Nascar didn't "give" the win to Jimmie today. I'm not a J. J. fan, but he is very good on the cookie cutter tracks and his team showed it today.

rigged as in they want a certain driver to win? no that's ridiculous,
rigged as in they will take away a guys lead to get drama in the last few laps ? defiantly without a doubt,

there will be a caution in the last 20 laps of every race this season, there has been so far, and this time it cost Stewart the win. and cost jpm second, the three cars between the two wher definitely going to need to pit, this caution gave jimmy johnson enough gas and 4 new tires and put him on Tony's bumper

so this tells me not to worry about making it to the end of the race, you just need to make it to 13 laps left ,

man where have you been? nascar is just like pro wrestling or horse racing its just a show the winners and loosers are done weeks before the race and the whole 500 miles is maped out before the race. ie nascar says how the race is run who wins and who's going to wreck. NOW YOU KNOW and for the sponsors that's just advertising thats where they get the cash to put these events on the rest the drivers crew and nascar even split. iTS A SHOW MAN

Its not that I think Nascar is rigged, I think a late caution for debris is odd. His sponsor Lowes/Kobalt, his crew chief telling him he would run out of gas on lap 324 on national television. I think there are a lot quirks like the top 35 thing, but that caution to me was blatant and was meant to help the 48, and 24 cars. We can argue this all day, all week really it wont change the outcome of the race, this is just a good place to vent. I am beginning to dislike Hendricks, as much as I hate Penske.

Alot of Nascar fans think the races are rigged because of teams winning when they carry the same sponsors as the actual race. Examples: Jimmie Johnson (Charlotte-Lowe's, Atlanta-Cobalt Tools) winner for both. Kurt Busch (Bristol- Sharpie 500) winner when he carried that sponsor. There are probably more, that's just some off the top of my head. I personally don't think that the races are rigged, but you have to admit it does look suspicious.
