I think it is a cute idea and everyone loves rice krispies. Also, with it's texture you could mold it to look like whatever you want. Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful wedding day!

I would choose rice crispies over cake any day! You could put them on a beautiful cake plate and stack them so it is in the shape of the traditional cake. Maybe drizzle some of them with white/dark chocolate, keep others plain etc. I just wouldn't add any kind of cake icing (way too sweet). Let the little squares of the crispies become a beautiful, minimalist version a wedding cake. Just to be safe, I would also serve some fruit or something not so hard on dental work for guests who can't handle the sticky-marshmallowy-goodness. Great idea!

Personally, the thought of Rice Crispie treats covered in fondant makes my teeth ache at the mere thought of all that sugar!
I love your creativity, though, and I'm sure you could decorate it adorably if you went for it.
Something else to consider that's becoming more popular, but isn't totally "mainstream" yet are the cupcake cakes. Cake tiers are decorated with bunches of cupcakes. You could have multiple varieties & flavors if you chose.
Another thing to consider is the "fake cake" - having just small cake forms decorated, except for the tier you cut at the reception. Once the caterers take your cake away to cut & plate it, they end up serving sheet cake to your guests, which is WAY less expensive than ordering a giant cake.
Whatever you decide, I'm sure it'll look awesome. Best of luck to you!

Yea, that is a cool idea... Just let people know it is a rice crispies cake. Don't want anyone biting into a surprise. I also saw a 'cookie' wedding cake, made out of sugar cookies piled on each other then iced. i have also seen a cup cake wedding cake (individual servings, just make enough for each guest to have one) that was layered into a cake shape. The last different idea is pie. I saw instead of cake, they used pie! Very different, and you can freeze leftovers!

I think it's a great idea! I agree with what wedrev said though about having an option of desserts for people with dental work. I wear braces and am unable to eat certain things so I would not be able to eat that yummy sounding rice crispie wedding cake.

Neat idea!!! You could also make cupcakes. If you know how many guests you are having then you make 1 per guest. They have these cool things you can put them on to make them sort of look like a wedding cake. I do like the rice crispie idea to really creative.I posted a link that has some pictures of the cupcake idea.

I really like that idea!!
I have a friend that made a cupcake for each person and to display it for the wedding she placed them on a cake tower. It looked so awesome and no left over cake!!

It's your wedding, if you want a rice krispy cake, then go for it. Personally, I wouldn't do it though. And I also think using the fondant on it will make it ENTIRELY too sweet. Talk about your sugar rush!!!
But hey, it's your wedding.....

Rice Crispie squares are sometimes difficult to cut through. You might want to take that into consideration. I cant imagine cutting into your cake and the whole thing falling down.

I think that's funny!!! Very cute. You might just want to have a small cheap homemade sheet cake to serve people who want it- a traditional piece of cake. I have some older relatives who would be annoyed not to get a REAL piece of cake.
