Grow them yourself! It is quite easy to grow most herbs - even in small pots.

you need not break the bank for wicca

Most new age and metaphysical shops will charge way too much for anything. Just a gimmick.

For stones and crystals, go to a rock shop. You will meet your requirements for 1/2 or less the price.

For incences and so on, phone around the local shops and ask what they have. Often you can make your own from lavendar and thyme and rosemarry. You just have to keep your eye open for oils and essences. They do have a limited shelf life though. I grew the herbs out back. Well, they grew themselves actually.

For long burning candles I bought the 7+ day votives from the local christian supply shop. For $3 it was a lot cheaper than $10 at a "wicca" shop. I also got a lot of candles from the dollar store, just made sure they were safely placed.

For specific rituals of course I picked up special candles.

I never bought an athame. I just used my grandmother's butter knife. In the old days when witches had to lie low, most of their tools were simple household implements. My chalice was a lovely vintage wineglass. The only weakness I had was my collection of tarot decks. I had 24 beautiful decks to play with.

Instead of buying stuff all at once, it is nice to take your time and just keep your eye open. Sometimes things come to you at the weirdest moment. I found some of my nicest altar stuff on beaches and in forests. You will know the moment you see it. Or you will take it home and then it will make itself known to you.

Remember the thing about wicca is learning how to coordinate things with the phase of the moon... and to work with the elements... these things are free...

Good luck

It depends on what you want. Many think that herbs you grow or gather yourself (esp. at certain times) are more potent anyway. On the other hand, most "new age" type shops have at least so of that stuff and it is probably a lot more convenient to get stuff there.

Do like all the original practitioners of faiths did...adopt, modify, experiment, and repeat frequently...the more rituals, the more faith. Faith is a concept for the weak. Religion is mans desperate attempt to explain the unknown and give himself a sense of permanence. His self-righteousness predicated his designing a creator in his own image. Rituals help the simple ones to remember the faith. Good luck cron.
