I have a soul, speaking morally (which I notice you didn't capitalize like you capitalized CHURCH and SUPERHUMAN POWER). We all have. It's called that little dot that exists and makes us who we are. Whether or not it has metaphysical, supernatural connotations is up for grabs, but that little thing that makes you different than your brother exists in all of us, as does the curiosity and search for ideals that everyone, be they religious or not, performs at some point in their lives.
I am here to try to share some of my beliefs and learn from those of others, be they Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or none of the above. I comment on religious topics because I am a thinking, literate human being with at least a slight grasp of theology. I participate in moral living; I express love; I conduct myself as a moral human being, according to the moral code in which I believe.
In my own way, I'm here to save souls. They need not believe in what I believe, but if I can promote a little understanding and tolerance amongst religions, so much the better. If I help one person live more closely to what they (not I) believe, then I am doing good in this world. The only way you can truly understand another person is to talk with them and to share ideas, and I am here to do just that.

I respect anyone's beliefs and faiths. One thing I would like to say is that No Dictionary can clearly define what religion and spirituality is for unique individuals. Spirituality as defined in a dictionary does not prove true faith. Do you believe everything you read? You may want to take a look at a book called The Bible, I am sure you know it, as do I...It states many things you may want to look at ...You do not have to go to a church to show faith. I feel you are fearful of something you know nothing about and need to read more on spirituality and religion. I am paraphrasing but didn't the Xion God say "Judge not, lest ye be judged?" and I feel you are being truly unfair to assume that everyone should have the faith that is being quoted from a dictionary! >:(

First off, I dont know if youve ever noticed this, but your R&S, section is actually under a more general "Society and Culture" section. Therefore any question posted in R&S ends up on the front page of S&C. So anyone in the general S&C section sees what questions y'all are askin. Thats where I found this question. How bout that.
Secondly, R&S means religion and spirituality right? I may not have a religion, but I do have a very spiritual way of life, so I have as much a right to be here as you.
Thirdly, maybe some "non-believers" have questions about how/what you and other religious people believe.
For sure, theres gonna be at least a few people in here taunting and bothering others. But theres as many Christian idiots on this site as atheist idiots. The rest of us are just here to learn or offer some insight to others who ask for it.
That being said, have a wonderful day.

You must understand that religion and spirituality are driving forces in our world. If someone is an Atheist (as I am, radically so) that does not stop religion from having a profound effect on their life. We become defined simply by our lack of belief in a certain thing. I personally come here for the very reason this site exists: to ask questions so I can better understand the subject, and to offer my insight wherever it is requested. It's the same reason I post in any other section. Mind you, I do not speak for those people who are simply here to be antagonistic. That comes from both sides and I condemn it equally from those who direct it at me and those who claim to be on my side.

SPIRITUAL: ". Of the spirit or soul in a religious or moral aspect."
Did you miss the "moral" part? I'm very spiritual. I am just not religious. And there is no such thing as an "evolutionist". That was a word made up by religious people with a bone to pick. Anyone who believes in evolution will tell you that it's a theory based on facts. We don't use evolution as our "spiritual guide".
I certainly hope, as a spiritual being and one who disproves of organized religion because much of it becomes prejudiced, twisted, and hateful, that I have a right to be here.
Thank you.

Why am I here? I am here to observe. What people discuss here interests me. I like to read what people have to say. And how they phrase their arguments. I like to read people's opinions, and sometimes, I offer my own view.
Here's something that might interest you.
Main Entry: re·li·gion
Pronunciation: ri-'li-j&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English religioun, from Anglo-French religiun, Latin religion-, religio supernatural constraint, sanction, religious practice, perhaps from religare to restrain, tie back -- more at RELY
1 a : the state of a religious b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
2 : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3 archaic : scrupulous conformity : CONSCIENTIOUSNESS
4 : a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
- re·li·gion·less adjective
(All emphasis is verbatim, from original source, quoted, below).
Isn't it interesting how many different interpretations there can be of the same basic idea? I think that's what makes R&S interesting. Lots of different points of view, all painting a greater picture.

Depends on the day.
Sometimes to answer questions honestly.
Sometimes to ask for information.
Sometimes to just piss you off.
Also, quite frankly, if we left, would your questions still be the same. I think they would, which isn't very spiritual. I have never once seen a Christian or Atheist in this forum ask a truly thought provoking question about the existance of the human soul or mind. Never, have I seen a quesiton that has enlightened me beyond belief or has made me want to think more about my spiritual state of mind.
Mostly just squabbling with the Christians pitted against the Atheist.
So I guess Sometimes I am really just here as a Cheerleader for my side.

I do believe in a higher power. It just doesn't happen to be the one YOU believe in and you and others in this section naturally think me and others like me should be automatically excluded.
When I see a question about something I find interesting, I look at it. Sometimes I answer. If it's a question directed at someone that believes the same as I do, whether condemning our beliefs or asking a genuine question about it I try and answer as best I can.
Honestly, I would really like to see more people - not just on here but everywhere - open their minds to other ways of thinking and not just dismiss ideas that are dissimiliar to their own as "heresy."
THE SECTION IS CALLED RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY. Meaning ANY religion.
We don't have to be Christian to be here. Or Muslim. Or Jewish.
I'm pagan, and I'm here because because it IS my religion. And it IS a religion. Educate yourself before you condemn.
We DO attend gatherings. Just not yours.
I personally don't care what religion others believe in as long as they don't condemn me for mine and try to convert me.
While we're asking questions about someone's "RIGHT" to be here, why do you Christians post questions to deliberately ATTACK followers of other religions?!?!
That finger you're pointing? There's three others pointing back at you.

I'd like to ask the same to why the non-homosexuals go to the "homo-section" and make such posts...
We are all gathered here to share our perspectives and to learn more about life. It is good to share our ideas and come up with new perspectives on life. It is NOT good to disrespect another's differences in the process of doing so.

why do you post a question to people you don't believe belong here?
just because someone doesn't believe in what you believe does not void his or her opinions on the matter. speaking for myself... often, i find myself in this section because a religion question finds its way onto the main yahoo answers page. and so i'm here out of curiosity to find out what other questions christians have. they are questions i don't believe you have to be spiritual to answer. most are usually statements, written in question form, to bash someone of some other creed or lifestyle. questions about atheists or about homosexuality going to hell come up a lot. why would someone have to be a christian to answer either one of those? and if those questions are indeed only intended for christians to read, and not just christians, but the type that adhere to the exact same code of conduct as you, then why even ask the question? are those questions being asked to actually gain some sort of enlightenment on a subject, or are they just being asked to persecute a group of individuals. that's hardly christlike behavior if you ask me.
