Doesn't that make them closer to Jews than Christians?

Hello.
It seems that you were misinformed about Jehovah's Witnesses and our beliefs. Believe me when I say that we most certainly do believe in Jesus. He is the only-begotten son of God and a central figure in the fulfillment of God's purposes.
Some people think that because we don't believe that Jesus is the Almighty God, but rather His son, that we don't believe in him at all.
In fact, after sundown on April 2 (which corresponds to Nisan 14 of the Jewish lunar calendar) Jehovah's Witnesses in over 230 lands will commemorate the Memorial of Jesus' death. And you would be more than welcome to come and observe. The Witnesses there would be happy to answer any questions you have about our beliefs.
I hope this answer was helpful! :)

They do believe in Jesus...but they believe He is a created being...not part of Jehovah God. They don't believe in the trinity, i.e. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three persons of the triune one God. They do believe in the resurrection but believe when you die that's it for you until God raises up your body again. That is, they don't believe in an eternal soul that continues after death.
They also believe "hell" is a false doctrine. They believe the place of the dead- tartarus, sheol, gehenna, has been translated hell when it should just be death. They don't believe a loving God would allow people to be endlessly tormented in fire. And since God loves everyone even if they are unrepentant, I wholeheartedly hope they are right. They do believe Jesus made a way for us to come to God but they do not worship Jesus or the Holy Spirit as they only worship Jehovah God. They do not believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit or that the spiritual gifts are for todays Christians especially speaking in a prayer language a Christian hasn't learned i.e. speaking in tongues.

as a matter fact, i found out that they really do believe in Jesus, i looked in the bible and he ask people to only remember why he died for us, as a matter fact they gave an invite to remember the greatest man who ever lived anniversary of his death on April 2,2007 on Monday after sundown look up Luke 22:19 and then they go all out something like people do on Christmas only not the drunk and violence that i have experience other places very nice, if one come to your door get a invite and go worship Jesus that night then maybe you wont take everybody else thoughts and come up with your own...just a suggestion that is their big holiday they celebrate from the old Nissan calender so the real day will be honor look it up in the library that's what i do. i feel when Jesus said if you don't know my father you don't know me he was talking to me and or you no i am not Jewish just want to know Jesus and respect what he wants me to do...that is also my opinion.....psalms40;8 psalms143;10 Romans8;20 look in the back of you bible under wills and pray for answers don't forget 4/2/07 and see for your self how much they love Jesus, i mean who you think started this door to door in the first place...

Did I read this right? Of course they believe in Jesus! It's WHAT they believe about him that's the problem and that needs to be questioned. But to imply they don't believe in him is fairly ridiculous. Mind you, your second Q is valid, because what they DON'T believe about Jesus has similarities with Jewish expectations about the Messiah - just a special man, prophet, chosen of God, subordinate to God and so on.

But for certain I cannot believe that I read "Jesus is a huge part of our worship" - did a JW really say that? She's going to be disfellowshipped - somebody warn her! It is taboo to render ANY worship to Jesus! Jesus must NOT be worshipped by JWs! They won't pray to him for that reason. As for saying they pray to Jehovah "in Jesus' name"... well, that's just lip service; a phrase tacked on at the end of a prayer to Jehovah. Anybody can say "... in Jesus' name, Amen." No, there's much more to it than that, but therein lies another question.

who ever told you that nonsense??
Of course we believe in Jesus Christ. It is only by the ranson sacrifice of his perfect human body that we have an opportunity to be freed from this enslavement to sin and death.
What we do not believe is that Jesus is God.We believe in one true God,whose name is Jehovah. We beleive that Jesus is the son of God,the firstborn of all creation.
It is in obedience to Jesus' command to his disciples found at Matt.28:19,20 that Witnesses go and preach and teach others about Jehovah God and his kingdom.

They have more belief in Christ than the average Christian.Just go to their Kingdom Hall on Nasin 14.

But, there may be a problem as you will have to look that up on the Internet, since most churches don't teach you anything about it, despite the instructions of Christ.

They believe in Jesus, but they also believe they are "gods" them selves. They believe only 144,000 will make it to heaven. Question is: Which 144,000 out of the 6 million that follow this religion will make it? Where will the 5,856,000 go, that remain in this religion?

Edit: Wonder why those that proclaim to follow this religion, has not addressed my questions here, but have given me a thumb's down. hmmmm they have no answer possible, you think?

Christians don't believe Jesus is the God Almighty, but Almighty God (Second in line so to speak). There is a difference in how one says it. If you say God Almighty you speak of God the Father, Almighty God you speak of Jesus, God is the Alpha and Omega you find in Exodus. Jesus is the Alpha and Omega you find in Revelation. This is why it is very important to read and study your Bible ON your OWN and let the Spirit guide you to understanding what is written.

I feel sorry for those 5,856,000 Jehovah Witnesses that will not be chosen to enter heaven's kingdom.

Who told you that JW's don't believe in Jesus? They believe that Jesus was God's son who was sent to earth to be a sacrafice for our sins. You have been misinformed my friend.

We do.

Take a gander at the New World Translation and you will see Jesus mentioned as often and as highly as in any other translation.

We believe in his ransom sacrafice and put faith in it. And we pray to God through him.

He is a huge part of our worship. We certainly believe in Jesus Christ.
