She's 6 months old, I got her spayed 16 days ago, had her stitches taken out 6 days ago. The wound is healing well but I'm still concerned. She's starting to smell a bit (last time i gave her a bath was the day before her surgery)

No, the wound is fine. It's just her starting to smell a bit (cat smell) because (I'm assuming) of all the saliva she's used to lick herself these past 2 weeks. It goes like that after awhile. Nothing to do with the wound.

I have gone thro this several times and yes it is ok to bathe your kitten but be very very gentle. Some cats hate water! But I bathe my female cat all the time, I even use Victoria Secret bodywash cause shes that special to me and the vet said it was ok.

But if I were you... since the stitches just came out 6 days ago, Id ask the vet about bathing her so soon. Im sure it is ok but check her stitches before you do and make sure the wound is COMPLETELY healed before you do cause thats very important. You do NOT want to get any water on it if its still in the process of healing, it will irritate the kitten.

Just in case, I would wet a washcloth with warm water and put some type of shampoo made for the kitten and wipe her down with it then rinse the washcloth and wipe her down again, you dont want the shampoo staying in her fur cause she will eventually lick it. Just repeat the process till she has no more shampoo on her fur.

Be careful and goodluck.

If she has already had her stitches out then it is fine to bather her. Is it the kitty that smells bad or is it the wound?? If it is the wound, you want to take her to the vet- this could be a sign of infection. if it is the cat, by all means bather her.
Some cats are just stinky- I have two cats- sisters- they both bathe themselves but one never ever stinks and the other always smells like a dog and I have to bather her - I don't know if it has to do with her food, her metabolism or what but I never knew cats could smell like that!
Anyway, the only time you want to be concerned about submerging the wound in water is if she still had the stitches in- she should be fine now!

i've only bathed male cats, but the best suggestion I can give is kinda juggle him, don't hold him too tightly or he'll get more scared. Use water that is so lukewarm you can barely feel it on your skin. Sing softly to her or otherwise talk to soothe the kitty. Dry her with a towel, since blow dryers can be scary. Also, bathe her in the sink; a bathtub is terrifying to a kitty. And if you're afraid of scratches, wear gloves. Of course, these suggestions are only good as long as the stitches are healed and vet says it's ok to bathe the kitty.

It's fine to bath her, just use a shampoo especially made for kittens. Make sure you dry her well and keep her warm so she doesn't get a chill.

Once the sutures are removed, it's fine to bath them. I asked the same question of the vet when my girls had their stitches out, he said you can go home and bath them now if you like.

If you can't bathe her, you can use baby powder on her as long as you brush her thoroughly and remove it, you can then wipe her over with a warm damp cloth.

If the cat has a dead smell to her then you need to be concern that her insicion area could be infected.I never knew a house cat to need bathing from having oders.I do bathe my cats once in a great while but thats just to get months of dirt off of them(which there is really no dirt on them).

Don't place her in water, but rather use a warm damp cloth and cat soap to clean her, and be careful not to touch the healing wound. Next, "rinse" her with a diferent cloth and warm water. Be sure to dry her completely to keep her from getting sick.

So long as you dry the wound gently but thoroughly after the bath, there's no reason why you couldn't bathe her now.

It is OK to bath her, its been long enough. If she is starting to smell, are you sure that her surgical area is healing correctly? She could have an infection and that can cause a smell.
