i dont have anything against idioms, i just think the american language could do without them, culturally, its important but poeple have a hard time knowing what they mean
who first invented idioms?
they seem to be different in the three languages i know

Born of the culture I guess... I personally like them... Gives language flavor and substance.

Hard to understand--yes, but they impart, with understanding them, a better understanding of the culture.

These two are over there having an intelligent conversation, and I'm sitting here wondering "now what the heck is an idiom?"
