muslim people think very highly of Jesus. He is written of in the quran. muslim people love Jesus, most of us americans don't know this. that is why they say PBUH. peace be upon him.

Most of the above answers have answered correctly. All Muslims refer to the Prophets with the words peace be upon him, and shorten it when writing with the acronym (p.b.u.h). The Prophet Jesus (pbuh) is refered to in this way as is the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).

A devout Muslim will say this every time he mentions the Prophet, Mary, PBUH, Jesus, PBUH, Adam, pbuh, Solomon, PBUH, Moses, pbuh, any of the women close to the Mohammed, Etc etc.

It means 'Peace be upon Him'. It's well wishing. It gets rather robotic after reading what they have to say time and time again. And I think that some of them try to do it to show everyone how wonderfully spiritual they are. A spiritual show offiness.
