If you were with a woman who you got a long great with, would the fact that shes not the race you envisioned yourself with hinder your ability to give in to those feelings?

I was dating an English guy for a year...it was great, but as I was the first black ANYTHING (friend, lover) he'd been with, he couldn't wrap his head around it...it seemed I was easy to forget once he went back.

Is it that important????

I don't think so... but I am also an inter-racial dater. It probably wasn't what I thought I would be doing about 5 years ago, but how much does skin color really matter. The way I look at it... it really shouldn't have anything to do with a relationship. What should matter is whats on the inside and whether or not you two are compatible.

I love my boyfriend to death and would give up the world for him. He's the first African American I have dated and one of the few AA friends I actually have.

Good Luck!!

Love has no color. When you love or have feelings for someone you care for them because of who they are as a person and not what race they are. If you are concerned about what others may say, DON'T be! All the matters is how the two of you feel towards each other. If this person is reallly special to you, don't miss out on a wonderful relationship because of something that is not important. Good Luck!

Don't be so naive, he dated you so race was not a problem for him; this isn't about race, it's just about him being a player and a jerk; Black or white you just were his American sex buddy to spend the time while waiting for the day to go back home. If he forgot you so easily is because he never loved you and I guess he always had a British girl (black or white) waiting for him back there.

Never date some who eventually will have to go home, because he will leave you heart broken no matter his race. Player-jerk-guys that travel do that all the time.

Only to those of us who see beyond race, and skin color, it does not matter. I feel that love is blind. For instance, if the one I loved turned black one day, I would still love her. But that is not the question. To answer you, if you are not affected by racial differences, then the thought of dating outside of your race shouldn't be a problem. I would date a black girl any day, or a Hispanic, or a Dutch girl. It makes no difference to me. But some people do have a problem with it. To hell with them all. Racists have no place in today's world.

I've only kind of "dated" a (black) guy once and it wasn't for very long. His cousin told him that I cheated on him. (I didn't) B/c I was white and he didn't like that. I think that it is hard for people to date out of their race b/c their friends and family pipe their 2-sense in and make it seem wrong. And even though it's 2007, society still frowns upon inter-racial couples, I don't think it will ever go away. People are always to worried about what others think. Although, if you really like someone it shouldn't matter what color they are...it doesn't change who they are inside.

i believe dateing outside your race is fine, and we all know there are a few barriers to overcome, but race should not be one of them, i am a white man and i have dated different races of women, and i always feel comfortable with anyone i have dated..culture and traditions are the main barriers, and some times language problems. but if you communicate in any way, you can find love and happiness, and forget the other people and their problems, it seems like some people dont have anything better to do than run their mouth about other people, i am sure you are an unforgettable lady, good luck and wish you happiness always.

You are not the first one to love someone withside your race. See the world, A lot of people do get married out side the race. Thats the matter. The underestand, love, feeling and heart means everything. Go where your heart goes. you are not going to be the last either.

I've dated other races and its cool with me as long as they are good people in character. As long as you address the issues up front than no stigmas should follow and also you have to be like gorgeous and you must be fly so keep it pushing and get another one if thats what you rock to...my older sis married a white man and had a child its all good to me as long as he's respectful and vice versa

You validate you never look for validation elsewhere, if he was a jerk he'll continue to be regardless of you honey

Race is not a big issue for most people. For others, it is. You just have to find someone who isn't after you to get the experience from a black girl or who doesn't think of you as his black girlfriend instead of his girlfriend
