I want to ask out this greek girl but im not sure how to go about doing it... Im not sure if i should ask out her father first before i ask her, or if i should ask her out first to see if she wants to go out with me and then ask her dad, either way im pretty sure i have to ask her dad because greeks in general tend to be pretty family oriented i talk to her all the time sometimes on the phone, on aim, and on facebook a lot. She is a year older than me, a sophomore in college and by far the most mature girl i have ever met in my life, i remember her saying that this was all happening at a bad time because she is very dedicated to her schoolwork and said that if she had a boyfriend she would be afraid that she wouldnt be able to give him the time that she wanted to

instead of talking on the phone, ask her to have a coffee somewhere near her college, day time
if she is nice to you over the phone, she will be nice over the cup of coffee also
do not push
and about her dad....wait until you see her reaction.....
spend more time with her, talk about different things and then you will decide,if she agrees, to meet her father and talk to him about going out
i still cannot understand, that college girl does not have time for her life

I was interested in a greek guy once, but he dropped me because his parents didnt agree with him dating an African-American girl and they expected him to marry a greek woman and if he didnt comply they wouldnt pay his last year in law school. I am interested in another greek guy who I inconspicuously met in high school when he was on the rival basketball team who played against my school and I later met him when he was petitioning to get on the ballot for a local political office position. It's true that Greeks tend to be very family oriented, but come to the table with identical qualities such as family orientation, and come with yourself in order meaning you don't involve yourself in questionable lifestyles and educated since education is big with ethnic families especially greeks. I learn about this culture since I know 3 people who are greek who are what I call my GC(Greek Connection).

As family oriented as it might be...please, don't buy the stereotypes...I have met many, many greek girls and I am sure as hell none of their fathers expect ever a guy to ask him permission for dating their daughter. For asking her hand in marriage, yes, but that is obviously different. And something else: whatever it is you ALWAYS ask the girl first! SHE has to agree first, doesn't she? Otherwise, that is taking her for granted if not plain disrespectful.
