Take him to the vet and they will put something around his neck so he can not lick the stitches.Im not sure what it is called but it is like a funny looking brace.

It's called an elizabethan collar, and actually I'm quite interested in the other answers to this question because I too had my puppy neutered recently. The vet gave him no collar and said nothing about limiting his activity. He has been licking the area of his stitches but I check them every day and they're still there. I am curious if anyone else has had that experience?

they have a special e-collar for that and as long as he hasn' t busted the stiches you can just buy the e-collar at a petsmart or petco. the callar keeps them from chewing at the stiches which after a few days itch just like any thing thats healing. Hydrogen Peroxide may be a bad idea since it's not for deep wounds and theres a chance it could make things worse, just use alittle water if there's dirt. If you can't get an e-collar from a store you may have to go back to the vet

take him to the vet or at least give your vet a call and tell the vet what is happening if you don't do something soon your dog could end up with a serious infection and become septic and that is a very expensive road to travel .Speaking from experience but it wasn't a neuter it was a pregnancy but the bottom line is infection and peroxide alone is not going to do the trick

I would watch him for a few days and try to keep him as quiet as possible. [indoors] The peroxide won't hurt him any. If you notice medium amount of blood or bright red, then get him back to the vet right away. As far as him licking himself, thats normal. It actually helps them heal faster.

take a trip to petsmart or petco and buy one of those plastic collars that look like lampshade and keep it on his so he doesn't pull out all the stitches. also contact the vet and let them know what happened

he is chewing his stiches out-you need to call your vet and for about $13.00 or $14.00 (depending on the size you will need) your vet will sell you a victorian collar--it looks like a plastic lamp shade that fits on your dogs regular collar and keeps him from chewing on his stiches-he can eat and drink with it on though--and it quite amusing watching him -my dog had to wear his till his stiches healed.
ps. your vet may not call it a victorian collar-there are several names for it, but that is the only one i can remember

get a cone to put around his neck, if its a little blood it'll be okay but if they ripped his intestines can come out that hole so you'll need to take him back in. just make sure he has plenty of rest.
