Cats are night "people" and are in more sociable moods during that short time that our schedules and theirs overlap.

They're HUNGRY! My cat eats in the morning and does his "business" in the litter box around noon and then late at night he gets a little rowdy so he goes out on a leash for a walk...We are not cat Owners, we are feline servants. My cat only socializes when he wants or needs something...Try feeding your cat as soon as you wake up if the over friendliness gets to be too much...then you will get thank you love for a few minutes and then you can go about your day without any excess cat hair on your clothes. HA HA HA

Mine are the same in the morning.
Having been out most of the night in winter they come in at 4 am have a sleep , eat some food, need some petting, then off out again.
Enjoy it.

my cats always have food out, but i give them canned cat food in the morning. They are always extra attentive when I wake up because of this :)

Sometimes it is because they are hungry and they ask for food. Sometimes it is because they just want to play with them and pay attention. My cat is my alarm clock. He knows the time that I am getting up and 15 minutes before my real alarm clock starts ringing he starts biting my hair, my hands, sometimes he sits up on my belly or on my back doing a kind of massage with his paws and other hilarious things .... I really love him!!!!

Mine are the same way. Cats feed on attention.. when they want it. Being in bed all night, cats are alone don't have anyone. After they sleep, they feel the need to bond... enjoy it. It doesn't happen all the time. :-)

Cats are friendly when they want something and in the mornings they want breakfast. They are happy that you are awake to give them attention.

Honestly, they are lonely because they have been "alone" all night - they really do get used to us talking to them, the noise in the house from us talking, from the tv and music, and us just bustling around. Oh, and the total possibility of us rubbing their heads and ears!

Because he misses his people. Cats like to be fed in the morning...and they know that you FINALLY up!
