First of all--when you are mature and responsible. Babies take up a lot of time and when you have them, you have to be willing to put them above your own self at times. Once you're a parent, you're a parent and there's no going back. I suggested to my sister that she should try to travel and stuff like that before having kids because it's a lot harder to do those kinds of things once you have them! Second of all--have a good support system. Kids are an awful lot of work (more than what you get babysitting!) You'll need someone to help you through those rough moments that kids put you through (2-3 hour feedings for the first two months can be hard on anyone!) If I didn't have my husband, I think I would have gone insane at times--he was truly a godsend! I also am lucky that their grandparents are in their lives as well. Third of all-financially well off (not rich, but you shouldn't be having a difficult time taking care of just yourself.) Babies are very expensive. Diapers, formula, doctor bills--they all add up. You don't say how old you are, but I'm guessing that you're younger. So, if you're looking for a "good age", I'd say in the mid-twenties. (I started in my younger twenties, and although I wouldn't trade any of my kids, I must say that it was difficult at times!)

When you a financially stable, have a good support system, are happily married, have your dream house, have good jobs, have cars that run all the time, then would be a good time.

be emotionally stable, financially secure and spiritually mature.
In the process, go find a lovely lady with whom you'd like to grow old with and hold hands with while watching sunsets.
