The ? ask if it will solve the problems WE have in that country. 20,000 troops staying home won't solve the problems WE have here. Our problem isn't actually in Iraq, it's in D.C..
Imagine if we put 20,000 troops in New Orleans? Crime might go down, houses might get build. Between the obscene amount of money we have spent to give them what we have here, and the recently questioned 100billion that the govt agencies that received it didn't use in the Gulf Coast, imagine how much could have actually been accomplished.
I do have an idea how to pay for the war. Go to grant.gov, and find some of the money they are just giving away.
I wish the US government would do something about the way the terrorist have treated the people of, oh yeah, Trail of Tears, never mind.

Nope. Iraq IS facing a Civil War. Whosoever we killed will have their families and friends coming after us in future. The Iraqi extremists have shown themselves to be a very revengeful lot! After all, who are we giving democracy? So many of the educated and smart Iraqis have already escaped from Iraq. They must have known that the Government of Iraq ain't going to make Iraq a pleasant haven for them! Hey, didn't a lot of these fleeing Iraqis work for us? They must have better sense to what would happen. It's a pity we don't and keep sending our Troops to face danger while they flee away!

Nope, I'll tell you what will though: Get the Troops out and Give Iraq and Iran A Healthy Dose of Napalm! That will get rid of the poppy problem too! Case Closed!

Yes and No, The force we have over there now is too small and spread too thin to do the job needed, so more troops would help. However 20,000 isn't enough by most estimates either.
Cutting out the bureaucracy the bogs down the individual Marine, solder, who ever, from doing their job would go a long way to helping the problem.

Nope, but doing nothing will make it worse. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The worse part about this whole situation is we are not really fighting insurgents in Iraq anymore. We are fighting other people that hate Americans that come across the unsecured borders. Nothing we do will stablize that country except either completly take it over, or just let them fight it out and let the last one stand run it. Oh wait tried that one already.

Nothing militarily will solve our problems in Iraq, no matter how much the White House screams for MORE MONEY!
The commanding general in Iraq has already told Bush that! What ever the outcome will be a political settlement, not a military one!

Only non-interference in Iraq will solve the problem. Let us quit with armies to subside the wars and internecine battles of external armies and internal population factions so that peace may return and reconstruction of a nation may commence.

The idea here is to secure the City of Baghdad so that diplomatic efforts between the Iraqi government and the insurgent factions can proceed. Until it is safe in the city of Baghdad, and Ramadi, and Fallujah.. among others, then efforts to peacefully resolve the situation are hopeless. So yes, so long as their mission is clear and they are allowed to complete the mission with the support of the American people, they can make a difference.

According to some of the generals who are over there yes it is already helping! Although you won't read about that or here it about it through most of our media. It's sad that they hate our president more then they do the radical Islamic fundamentalists who would kill them and their families if given the chance. But I guess in this day and age politics runs the show, and common sense be dammed!
