which most christians agree he does so that you won't remeber your sinful friends, family and loved ones burning in hell, Do those people in hell get extra memories added to their brains? making life beforehand seem better than it truly was? after all, ignorance is bliss, so anybody making it to heaven would have to become a complete vegetable in order to enjoy an everlasting life without getting bored or missing anybody

Why do we call them Christian Fairy Tales...when they are more like "B" grade Horror Stories? ; )

It is amazing what all people speculate about heaven and perpetuate as possible truths. If it's not in the Bible I am not going to make crazy speculations. Some people think the only way to not be sorrowful in heaven is to be brainwashed? Seriously, is this the only way. Being in an open, worshipful, constant communion with the God and Creator of this world isn't enough? If He did would we also forget who HE is? So now is some sort of selective amnesia? Ridiculous.

Hi †Hayden† †Lyfe†. No one is exactly sure what Heaven will be like, but for those who are saved it will be glorious. Will we be vegetables in Heaven? Of course not. Perhaps your question could be rephrased "do we lose our identity in eternity?" The best clue we have in answer to this question is by examining what happened on the Mount of Transfiguration. In Matthew 17:3 God describes:

"And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him."

Moses and Elias (Elijah), who had lived and died on earth much earlier, and who ever since they died had been living in heaven, came from heaven and appeared before Jesus and the three apostles. Moses was still Moses, and Elijah was still Elijah, which means that in heaven, we will maintain our identity eternally.

As far as marriage is concerned it does not exist in heaven. In heaven, they neither marry nor are they given in marriage. God says in Matthew Chapter 22, verse 30:

"For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."

As a matter of fact, in heaven we are all the bride of Christ.

And Hell? Hell is eternal damnation. Hell is most terrible and most awful and the thought of it should strike terror in our hearts. The Bible uses many different phrases and sentences in order to give us an idea of the awfulness of hell. No one has ever been in the place called hell because it has not yet come into existence. The Bible is our guide, and God speaks of hell as a lake of fire, a place of outer darkness, a place where the worm does not die, and where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I won't post the entire passage because it's too long, but you can read Deuteronomy 28, from verse 15 to the end of the chapter, and you will see expression after expression of things that happen on this earth which are used to develop a picture of the awfulness of hell. Hell is the reason why we are so eager to share the Gospel.

The only antidote for hell is the Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot be happier than when someone becomes saved.

I don't think they are completely erased from those in heaven. I just think it is more of a detached memory. We know it, but there is no pain from it. It can't mess us up anymore. The closest I can come to explaining is the pain of childbirth. During it, it is horrible. Undescribable, but you know we try :) With my second son my teeth chattered with pain and I could not focus enough to answer the nurse yes when she asked if I wanted and epidural. It took a few minutes for the contraction to cycle down and then I asked my husband "Did the nurse just say something about the epidural?" But after, I remember those things, I know it hurt. I remember my behavior because of the pain, but I don't remember the pain. It is behind me and I was fully focused on the joy of my child.

I think heaven will be like that. We have the memories, but we don't obsess on them any more. We are just too surrounded by the joy.

And once we get to heaven we are given a greater understanding. We will be able to see the big picture. See why God let our father die, or our child get sick. We will see the whole plan. And we will know that if our loved ones are in Hell they chose to be there. I don't know how we deal with that without mourning. But I know God can heal us. And I know He is in control and knows what He is doing. I will just have faith and wait and see.

Do people in hell get extra memories, no. They are left alone, in the dark with the worst of their fears to terrify them and the best of their memories to torture them with longing. It is a terrible place. No need for extra.

WHAT? God doesn't "erase" anyone's memory. Where is that in the Bible?

People who did in the Old Testament (as in before the Sacrifical Lamb) were sent to a "purgatory" type of place to await the Second Coming of Jesus (Catholics have this all twisted out of context!). While they are there, they will INCUR no NEW memories, as they will be waiting there a long time.

If your memory is erased then you are not the same person that you were on earth. In that case why can't sinful persons go to heaven, because they would not be the same person that they were on earth?
And what is the point of earthly life if you do not learn anything from it?

Er... where in the Bible is that concept?

As far as I know, God will wipe every tear from your eye, there shall be no sadness, etc. but actual amnesia was not on the list.

I think that the memories will remain but your reaction will be different because you're with perfection. What the reaction will be is something I can only begin to try to fathom but I believe it will be one borne out of love.

What most christians fail to see is that God will not fail. All those people will be in heaven with us because it wouldn't be heaven without them. None of us will get there until we learn how to be there and it takes more than Jesus dying for our sins. We do have some responsibility to develope ourselves and no one can do that for us. But no one will be left behind. THAT is faith.

You don't need to worry about that and if God doesn't erase your memory than he might illusionate your loved ones so you don't miss them. Anyway... why does it matter you'll just forget it.

You have it mixed up. We all had our memory erased when we came to Earth from heaven.

Yeah!

He says no greed, then tempts us with promises of great riches just to do as he says.

Streets of gold? No thank! I'm content with a dusty cabin.
Piles of jewels? Please God, what good will they do me after I die, I won't have any needs, so I can't spend them!

Can anyone pls say, too little, too late?
