aw that's cute. i say go for it. he stays by your side as a friend for a reason, doesn't he? so why not try more than that? at least you know it's not a fake kind of friendship where he's after you for your looks, because you've known him for so long, he wouldn't want to hurt you intentionally, like a player would.
go for it, and probably go out to dinner or do something fun or something, not as a DATE, but show how you two are compatible for one another. and personally, i go for the traditional, that boy should ask girl out, and not the other way around. but if you feel comfortable with asking him out, then by all means, go ahead.

Well, I can tell you from experience, I lost one of my closest friends that way. Actually I was your age when it happened. I really missed his friendship after our very very brief relationship ended. I missed him for along time. I wish I would not have taken that extra step, I lost a great friend. I would say that if something was there between the 2 of you it probably would have happened a long time ago. I would give your lovey feelings more time to make sure they are real and not some fleeting crush or because you are lonely.

Maybe you could initiate that you guys start doing things together, like going to the movies, shopping, dinner. Spend some time with him. It cant hurt ya know. After a while, maybe you should tell, him. dont tell him right away though. After a few weeks though. Also if he is as good of a friend as you may think? He will respect it.

There seems to be a connection there. Talk it over with him. I also highly recommend reading a book by William Glasser called Staying Together. It talks about the 5 basic needs within a relationship and if you know these, you will be able to take a look at your friend and determine if he is the ONE!

It's not weird at all. You're roommates and friends. What's weird about that? Plus it's added security having a friend like that.
Does he have a girlfriend and what about you?
You shouldn't be a couple unless the feeling is mutual. Have a conversation and test him out.But............be careful as you certainly don't want to ruin the friendship.Good friends are hard to find. True friends that is.

its not weird that you are not a couple since generally and perhaps you dont feel the same thing or that you only found out today that you do care
its a surprising feeling and i dont know where would it lead, it would be great if he feels the same lovely feelings just be sure that youre not just being carried away by romantic movies and stuff, since you seem to get along

maybe you have these feelings for him because you feel like you should since you have this close friendship. If it is great right now than you want to be absolutly sure if you really trulylike him like that because you dont want to ruin the frienship. but i dont think its wierd you guys arent together sometimes there are those guys who are just great friends.

No I don't think its weird. Why is a strictly platonic relationship between a man and a woman so hard to believe in? Maybe he doesn't of you like that
