Hey Everyone,
I am an army veteran who has been honorably discharged, and I've kind of missed the military lately. I was considering joining the Coast Guard, but I am not interested in deploying. Again. Does the Coast Guard Deploy? And if so, how often, where and for how long? Any details on the Coast GUard anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Coast Guard does deploy. They have simular deployment lengths, simular to the Navy, about 180 days. Both times I was in and out of Kuwait, when I was in the Army I oftenly seen them on the bases. They are doing Port Security and Oil Rig security in the Arabian Gulf from what I had seen and heard. Be careful though, I just left Kuwait about a week ago, they are starting a major armement of the Arabian Gulf to show Iran that we are not messing around, so be careful on your timing, or you might be spending a lot of quality time deployed! Hope I was of some assistance.

The Coast Guard does deploy but their deployments are not very long. Just a few months. There are some in the Persian Gulf. They provide port security.

Well i happen to work in the USCG recruiting office. If you join the reserves you will not move ever. If you go active duty...you might. we dont really "deploy", you can go afloat. The longest tour we have is for 3 months-but you will be in port for three months after that. many patrols are only for a few days weeks and some hours. If you are worried about deployment then the CG is your best bet. Even if you are on a cutter you go where your going (free cruise) stopping at ports for a couple days for liberty, but then you come right back home. its not like you go overseas for years. besides when your separated from your family you receive sea pay and family separation pay. I haven't went afloat yet, and most people love to go. they go everywhere...you may take one down the Bahamas, to japan, the pacific islands, Caribbean.....
