I recently started practicing wicca but as I have no wiccan contacts and don't even know of any wiccan stores I have not been able to do much. So I am looking for a coven that I can join in the DC or Silver Spring or even Rockville area. I have tried witchvox.com but they only have one in DC and then none near me in Maryland. So if anyone knows where I could find a good coven I'd be very grateful.
Blessed Be

I'll say this again I have already tried witchvox.com and they DON'T have anything near me. They had one in DC but apparently it no longer exists.
Also I have no idea how to go about finding a store that sells crystals balls or pentagrams or anything wicca related.

I'm sorry to say, you might have to go a little farther.
I know Mystickal Voyage in White Marsh is having a FREE Candle Magick Class on Thursday, and they sell LOTS of great witchy supplies, AND have advertisements for open circles and a Wicca 101, where you can not only learn, but maybe do some networking to find a ritual near you.

I'd stay away from "The Turning Wheel" though, the people give me the creeps, and everything is over prices, execpt the books. Plus the owner seems to get a kick out of banning people for no reason. (No, I've never been banned from ANY store, I just don't appreaciate the Drama.)
Shop Address: 8601 Walther Blvd # 103 , Baltimore (White Marsh) Maryland
Directions: From I-95 take exit 67-B White Marsh Blvd Route 43. Go 3 Miles. Turn Right onto Walther Blvd. Past apartements, turn right into the Food Lion Shopping Center. Also easily accessible from Route 40, Joppa Road, Bel Air Road... or from Towson, take 695 Exit 31-C to White Marsh Blvd, then Left onto Walther Blvd.
Hours of Operation: Open 7 Days - See Website for Hours

Witchvox is my only "easy" solution. The next easiest would be to try searching yahoogroups and google groups for email lists local to your area. Joining those may allow you to make contacts. You may want to check the public bulletin boards of your local coffee houses and book stores (and possibly colleges) to see if anyone has posted anything about a group regularly meeting or forming.
Please remember, Wicca is not about having "stuff," regardless of what anyone else might tell you. A New Age or Occult store may be a good way to make contacts, but the only tool you need is *you.*

It can be tough finding like minded people. Most Pagan shops are not going to advertise themselves as such. Look for shops that advertise crystals and incense. If they have a bulletin board look for cards that will have readers and such. If they sell pentagrams and tarot cards then you have found a good place - they usually have contacts with local covens. Be careful of contacts from public places like this - you might end up being directed to a church that is going to try and convert you .

church of the four quarters is about 2 hours away from you. they are in pennsylvania. and have several differant religions that are free to operate on their lands. plenty of Wiccan folks up there. i am in Hagerstown which is about half way between you and them. i have been there a few times and was very impressed with their ethics and operating prociedures. they have people from all over. and with a major holiday like Beltane comming up you may wish to go check them out, if only to meet people. I know that there are a few Wiccans up there from the Baltimore/DC area.
there is also a medieval reinactment group in the baltimore area (actually a live action role play group) called Amtgard.
there are a lot of Pagans and Wiccans within that group.
and they are generaly friendly people always willing to help.
there is a fairy festivle comming up next month in your area also. that would be a good place to meet people of like mind.

Have you tried searching Yahoo groups? I belong to a group that's local to me, perhaps there's something similar in your area.
I'll see if I can find any links that could help you out. I'm a solitary but I do kind of keep an eye out for covens and others in my area I may want to connect with. Sometimes the most obvious answer isn't the one that helps, though. :-)

I have a better Idea. Why don't you find a good Christian church to attend and save yourself the displeasure of spending an eternity in the Lake of fire.

Witchvox is usually a good place to start. Or check for flyers in the local magical shops.
