I agree with you, but, I think they did it not just for safety but to help the teams who are just starting out or don't have an endless bank account. From what I understand it's to even the playing field a little bit. Everyone doesn't have the resources RCR, DEI, RR, etc. has to make a great racing car. Time will tell......few people like change, it will be interesting!

I think I was born in the wrong era because I like the old style racing who ever could build the best motor that was legal displacement didnt matter bout the car all bout the motor. the Daytona's and that deal but I agree Nascar should make it safer but Nascar has lost its heritage it use to be moonshiners who brought there daily driver cars now its turned into a multi-Billion dollar sport that resembles nothing of a stock car at all. the car of tomorrow is dumb they should still have body lines of a production car. the COT is ok only because it will help out starting out teams but over time Nascar will be just like the Indy series the Indy series let Honda in and now only Honda's are winning in Indy this will happen with Toyota like the truck series it should have kept with GM, Ford & assocated branches, Mopar just like the old days keep the imports out and keep it an American sport. no matter what Toyota will always be an import. Nascar should have made Toyota build there own motor with NO help, Toyota was able to take a engine from Chevy, Ford, and Dodge back to Japan to design a motor so they have the advantage the short throw of a Chevy and Dodge heads and Fords block this was a terrible mistake on Nascars part.

NASCAR hasn't been true Stock Car racing since the 60's. Purpose-built chassis with "factory" sheet metal after that. Those cars morphed into front-wheel-drive bodies on rear-drive chassis (all so GM could stay in the sport) after that, & by 2000 there was practically no factory tin left. Don't you think the current cars are all custom made? I suppose you think they should go get themselves a bunch of new Crown Vics & Chargers from their local dealers & race those. Too bad Chevy can't join in, because they don't build any big rear-drive cars. The days of "If you want a slicker racing body, build 'em for the street" are long over.
Yeah, they coulda improved upon the existing cars. Been doing it for years. Don't get me wrong, I'm no big COT fan, but look at the plusses:
1. A safer, roomier car.
2. Punches a bigger hole in the air. Should help the aero issues of the current cars.
3. Same templates for all makes. Stops the whining about who's cars have the aero advantage.
The COT gets it's trial by fire this weekend at Bristol, & again next week at Martinsville. Watch the races. Let's see if they really improve the racing. I'm willing to give them a chance, even if this does have IROC written all over it. (Identical cars?)

First let me qualify myself by saying that I have many performance vehicles at home (old and new alike), I have worked in the hot rod, custom and exortic car industry for years and have followed NASCAR from the time that the cars were more stock than not. Now to my answer. Only in a motorsport so completely convoluted as NASCAR is right now could you refer to this car as something from the future. The cars are larger, bulkier and create more drag in a way so obvious to even the creators that it requires a particularly ugly and gawky wing for stability at high speeds. Nascar is still using carburators on normally aspirated engines and much to the displeasure of Tony Stewart, mechanically driven fuel pumps. If anyone can find that for me on a new street car please notify me. Even most farm machinery has injected fuel and electric fuel pumps now. This car is a shrine to everything that is wrong with NASCAR. It is an idol to old technology and a total disappointment to a fan who is only clinging to the sport for mere nostalgia at this point. The idea used to be to push technolgy through racing not hold it back. I think the time has come for a new American Racing Series that will put the life back into American auto performance tech.

Well I think it has a lot of room for improvement. It really helps to have multi-car teams who can share info and it gives them an advantage. The single car teams will struggle until they are extinct. The thing looks like a race car but sometimes I wonder when it will crash can they run without the wing on the back or the front-splitters fall off can they replace these parts. I don't they have solved anything because you can't prevent research or people trying to find an advantage. Big teams like Hendrick and Gibbs are reasearching all the time for ways to win. Technology like computers make a lot of reasearch easy because you can send info to and from the shops and get adjustments and set-ups to make a difference.
You cannot take technology away from NASCAR and the new technological style of racing will eventually take over and
the sport may suffer.

Umm, no, because that's an beside the point and uninformed question. Are you smoking some thing? RCR isn't a huge potential in NASCAR on the prompt. They have not been a huge contender for a at the same time as. also, the bodies themselves look alike, in spite of the undeniable fact that the certainly autos do not at the same time as the numbers are lengthy gone. Granted, it replaced into more beneficial accessible to tell apart manufacturers in the ninety's, yet hey what in case you took each of the numbers away then, hm? i do not imagine you'd know who you've been cheering for then both. it truly is type of the finished idea in the back of numbering your automobile. as well, it wasn't on the turn of the century, it replaced into in 2007, at the same time as the COT got here into use. They raced the autos from 1999 up until eventually 2002, then there replaced right into a replace in 2003, yet they nevertheless held form layout cues. They nevertheless did up until eventually 2007, when we first said a COT racing. What do you recommend by ability of the autos searching like their street opposite numbers? The COT is depending on the layout for the truck. they provide the effect of being basically as a procedures off because the sprint Cup autos do. at the same time as replaced into the finest time you said a truck that had any such rounded nostril. and those headlight decals basically wrap round it, and do not move the look nicely in any respect. And avert got here back in 2001, Hendrick had owned his own race team for about 20 years at that aspect, so your argument there is moot. It exceedingly a lot sounds like you attempt to describe Ray Evernham, considering that he worked with Hendrick, and all started a avert team in 01, yet i visit't be particular. i'm particular that you do no longer know what you're speaking about inspite of the actuality that... question: Why is Hendrick more beneficial efficient than RCR, if he were given a lot help from his "old boss"?

From the test that have been run it seems that the C O T should be a fairly competitive car.I think that it will have some good points that will make for safer racing and better racing. The test will come this weekend when 43 cars are on the track at the same time at Bristol.

I don't think they should have changed the size of the foilers.
I think that these CARS OF TOMORROW would do better on a longer track. I am with you, they didn't need a whole new car, just improve what they had for safety standards.

I guess I have two answers to this question.
1. Its ugly no doubt about that. I think if they put the old spoiler on it and get rid of that wing it would help.
2. Even though its first race will be Bristol, I truly don't think the COT will be tested for every one of its aspects at once until Talladega. Downforce, Aero and safety are all dependent there.

What about a STOCK car is stock? Is it a 2 door Ford Fusion? How about a 2 door Charger? Maybe its the push rod engine, or maybe the decal headlights. Its cookie cutter cars with no innovation, driving in a circle for 4 hours. Thats what you pay to watch. All this new car does is let everyone drive the same mold of a car.
