Family. They're what I have and what I cherish most. No matter what the consequences would be, I would choose my family each time. They're THAT important to me. I would gladly give myself for them.

I would chose God. But God does not give us that choice. In fact love and respect are stressed pretty heavily in the bible. We are to love one another as Christ loved the church (he was tortured and died for it, totally sacrificing, never selfish immesasurable love). We are to respect and obey our parents in the Lord (meaning we obey them all the way up to the point where they would have us disobey God), we are to love our children and not provoke them, but raise them to be good godly people.

That being said, all is not well between everyone and my family and me. There are several people who disagree with my faith or think I have gone a little over the top. My mother thinks men wrote the bible and good people go to heaven, and she just "cannot believe in a God who would send a good person who has always done good works but never accepted Christ to hell but allow a murderer to be forgiven and go to heaven" It just doesn't seem right to her. So I respectfully keep talking, keep praying, keep trying to be a good example. But I do what I am supposed to do. Am I perfect, of course not. But I am better than I used to be and still working on it.

For some families, if a person were to chose Christianity the family might turn against them. They might refuse to be around them, turn them out, pretend they are dead. People can be horrible. But the Christian is not the one making the choice to not love them. They are not the one walking away, so it is not our God that would ask us to choose. It would be very hard not to crumble to that pressure. I am not sure how I would handle it. But in the end, you cannot un-know something. You cannot go back once you know the truth. You can hide your faith, live a lie, but in your heart you would forever be changed. You cannot forget God once you know Him. So you would just have to make your choices one day at a time and do the best you can. That is all anyone can do.

God first. and then all other things fall into place. remeber he is a jealous God. I dont think that choosing family means u go to hell, its not that black and white.....if u know God, truly do and understand the position and significance in your life, there is no way that you would not put him first.

To put it in such a way, God would be jealous of my family, because I would do anything for my family.
If the Creator has human attributes and is inclined to petty jealousy, we're all screwed.

I agree with Searcher. I do love my Heavenly Father more, but in doing so, I have a greater love for my family thru His love.

Well, God's love in Greek translation is the Agape love. This is a love where you love another person more than yourself. If I learn to love God more, then he shows me how to love other people. So in the long run, I would learn to love God first and then it results in me learning to love my family more.

It is easy, I love God, it is His present for me, to have given me my family to love and feel loved. Without God we would not even be able to choose. I cannot even love myself first, you know why, of course, I wouldn't exist without God, nothing would. God is my family, God is you, God is me.
God continue to bless us all...
