My opinion - If you like her and don't outwardly say it, then she is going to question the authenticity of your friendship when she does find out.
Be true to your feelings, tell her the truth. If she is a good friend, she wont let it affect the friendship.
As far as the part about if she likes you or not, if she doesn't know thats part of the equation, she may have never thought of you like that before.

theres always the risk that things might get akward if you ask her out and she doesnt feel the same...but at the same time you have to weigh up wether shes worth taking the chance on, or wether the friendship is too important to put on the line...you should be able to tell whether she likes you more than a friend or not..you should flirt a little, or give her a nice complement and see how she responds. Make sure though that you are positive that she likes you or else it will definatly get a little wierd.

Why not try asking her to hang out instead, but it's just the two of you. After a while she may get the hint and either want to keep hanging out and take it further. Or might catch on and not accept your invites to hang out alone. That's what my bf did before we dated, and it worked! :P

Just ask her to go out with you on a date. It can either go two ways. It can get awkward or it can go the way you obviously want it to.

if you ask her out it will be awkward. no matter how you do it. because friends don't want to make out with eachother and if they do, it gets a little weird. but go for it - better to be honest and see if it works in your favor!
