I've been liking bread (a lot) recently and have been eating nice breads. I'm think about getting a nice bread box. Why are/were bread boxes used? Should I get one? What features, materials, types?

what should you look for in a bread box??? well, certainly not little dancing men!!! lol!

seriously, i like the wood ones, counter top style, and one that looks nice- no places that need sanding, no icky spots, etc. I alos like the style that has the door that rolls up into itself...

It should close firmly but should still allow some air to circulate. Wood is fine but a lot of newer types come in metal or plastic.
