My daughter is a month old and weighs 9 lbs 2 oz. I breast feed her and she nurses for abou 20 min on the breast. I also pump and she eats about 4 oz. I thought 4 oz was too much at her age. Her doc said she will stop when she is full. every baby is diff and they dont eat the same amount everytime. Breastmilk digests faster. My daughter eats about every 2 hours.

Every baby is different. I am assuming 11 lbs is around a month old, which is really where the oz come in, not so much weight. If the baby is 1 month old, I would say probably about 4-5 oz. My twins ate 4 oz from 3 weeks, to 5 months old. They would never go up, finally they did, and then they skipped to 8 oz so fast. How old is your baby?

Its hard to tell just how much hes eating if hes getting it from the breast, but if you are pumping and he is about 2-3 months, I would say that he would need a 4-6 oz bottle every 3 hours or so. If hes just nursing, make sure he gets fed on demand. Babies digest breast milk more quickly, so often like to be filled up a little more frequently.

I think that's why breasts don't have graduated markings. It's best to let him nurse until he's full, some days, he may eat like a pig, others, he may just nibble. He should nurse for about 30 minutes, on average. That means he may nurse for 10 minutes one time, and for 45 another. If you are pumping, you will have to ask your doctor. I would think that the doctor would just tell you until he's full.

quit stressing the amount because it will be different for each baby. let him nurse till he's done and when he wants. as long as he's gaining weight and has wet diapers during the day, he's healthy.

He should be allowed to nurse whenever he wants. Are you talking about pumped milk?
