being best friends with one of the opposite sex can get pretty confusing sometimes.
if after being best friends for 5 years he hasn't indicated any "love" interest ,( although he probably does love you as a friend), i would think that he is probably not interested in anything beyond that.
but, if you find yourself thinking about him in this way constantly, tell him. even if he does not feel the same, at least you've been open with him. even though it might make things awkward at first, you've got nothing to lose as i assume this will not put your friendship on the line. and who knows, maybe he is experiencing the same feelings as you are. ! \
a word of caution (from experience in a similar situation): if he is not interested in a romantic relationship, then accept that, and move on. there is difference between a best male friend and a boyfriend, and dreaming on and on about someone who does not share your feelings is a waste of time. if things are meant to "work out " in a love relationship, they will flow naturally and evolve as such from both sides.
good luck!

Just as you said your simply 'In love' but you always want to be sure if your considering dating him that he really is the right one. You may think your sure now but then other things that you didn't foresee come into play later in life.
And you aren't insane but you may want to take time REAL time to sit down and discuss feelings between the both of you not just friend wise but love and affection for each other as well. I chased away a boy I knew for 5 years and I haven't talked to him in 3 years now and there are many things I wished i'd done differently.
Now I have another friend who I befrieded around the time that I stopped talking to the other boy and we've been close ever since but I haven't even tried to ever ask him out because I believe we're fine right where we are.
So what I think is if your considering him as a potential boyfriend or even husband take it slow!

I think you are experiencing these feelings because you grew up without a father figure or your fathers love. You see this older man as your father and he is filling that void in your life.. I could be wrong CZ I don't know the whole story, em me if you wanta talk. I'm a father with lost children too classic Freud

You feel what you feel. Your not insane just human. My only advice would be to make sure you are totally sure about your feelings before you act on them. You do not want to loose a friendship you value so much. All the very best of luck !!!!!!

Not really. Although it would be weird on your friends side, I Dont really think your insane. Most people have friends who are the same gender. I cant blame you for liking him.

I don't think you have a problem. You have a 'barrier' that you are afraid to cross with him... so tell him. Do all those things you said you want to do, don't hold back. Don't hide your feelings from him. DO IT! no hinting either. Come outright and say it.

You're not insane, but you are confused.
Talk to him about your feelings, but don't make him feel trapped or threatened. Go slow and see what happens.

I think you have fallen in love with your best friend. Maybe you should tell him how you feel and see where it goes.
