I am looking at buying a Saab car now. I have never owned one and am moving away from my Camry.
I am looking at a Saab 2002 9-5 Arc V6 Turbo with some 116,000 miles on it. The owner is asking for $8200.
Is this car worth it? I am little bit worried as to the mechanical problems that I might face as people say that rectifying them will be expensive. But I kind of like this car and since I cannot afford to buy a new one, I am looking at used cars. How much more miles can this car go and is this too pricey? Should I get the price lowered? What kind of engine or other mechanical issues should I expect in this? With the high gas prices, I am also worried about mileage?
Everybody I talked to have advised me against going for this car. Please help me out.
Thanks!

First off avoid the V-6 engine. The major reason is the high cost of timing maintenance. At 35K to 40K miles as a replacement interval it is just too costly. Also they have oil leakage problems at the oil cooler. If you are looking at Saabs make an effort to stay '99 only in the 9-3 model unless it is the Viggen edition then any year '99 thru '02. The 9-5 will work up thru '05 but after that they really are not worth having, sadly. Of course have ANY car you are looking into checked by a trusted Tech, hopefully one that really knows the make. If you find a Saab and do not know a Tech in your area drop me a note and I will locate one for you, hopefully close by. Please DO NOT rely on CarFax reports solely, they are worth very little if any thing at all. Good Luck in your hunt.

it quite is directly to be an 8-3 hundred and sixty 5 days old automobile. Sounds somewhat costly to me. i might supply low. perhaps around $4000 and notice what he says. He might giggle on your face. yet actually, i does not pay extra suitable than $4000 for that. Do you have your heart set on a Saab? because of the fact i've got observed there are distinctive different fashions accessible that are plenty youthful and wayyyy extra less expensive.

Saab is nice but NOT that mileage at that price. If you are used to Toyota go back to a Toyota Camry or Subaru Legacy. They have better reliability and safety even the used ones.

Don't even think about it.. You didn't say how old or used your Camry is..(one of the most reliable cars on the road). For that much money you could get an 05 or newer Ford Focus.. Fun to drive and mostly Mazda designed drive train.. Better yet get a Civic or Corolla if you can find one with low miles.. Gas is now $3.00 +
