I think so.
I am reading a book called, the purpose driven life and in the book it says that life is a test.
God will leave you at times just to test your faithfullness.
And also do other things which I dont remember (sorry)
But it also says that God wont test you with anything thats not in your ability to over come.
But thats all I got, hope it helps!!

Challenges develop character, character turns to strength.. " For without fire, Iron never becomes steel... God's test are a refiners fire to help us to develop strength to serve the needs of those around us.... A sober drunk is the best an addicted person can go to... He knows the way out.. A cancer survivor, adds strength to a cancer patient... How can one help without understanding and faith?... These qualities come from the test you are asking about.

God lets you be tested. Here the semantics are important.

The scripture indicates that this testing doesn't originate from God. In the box below, the testing is shown to come from one's own internal desires.

Of course, Satan and other human beings are only too happy to throw obstacles in our way.

God does promise to help the righteous who pray to him for help so that they are not tested beyond their ability to bear.

If God exists, then life is nothing but a test. Serve God the way he says, and you pass. If not, you fail, and we all know what happens then.
All that crap about love, this is all fundamentalist christianity really is at its heart. they already claim to know that we fail, and God has to rescue us in the end anyway. so just save yourself, and enjoy the show.

James 1: 12-15: "Happy is the man that keeps on enduring trial, because on becoming approved he will receive the crown of life, which Jehovah promised to those who continue loving him. 13 When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. 14 But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death."

In the book of Job, God allowed Satan to try Job, but God did not try him...but after having proven himself(Job) faithful, God did reward Job greatly.

Yes & the reason behind is creation of life & death cycle to test who brings the good deeds & who go for the wrong ones. MY holy book says clearly that "Lord will test u through the process of life & death so that he can see you who comes forht with the good deeds who has the evil deeds."

Perhaps. I really don't know.

But I wonder if, when people say that god is testing so-and-so, they simply mean that whatever is happening to so-and-so is unexplanable and they are just making excuses.

But that's just me ....
