There is no point to it. The only difference is one is a spray. They just packaged it that way for convience. If you really needed to (like needed a Tbls of oil, but were out) then you could do it, but I think it would take so long just to spray it out. I think that they add something to it to keep it from clogging up the nozzle so it might taste different.

Many things that we use oil and butter for now are out of habit...not really from need. Lots of recipes can have their oil content cut back a ton without any difference (or even taken out all together). Even when cooking, oil is overrated... a tiny bit is all that's really needed for pan cooking (if that, you can cook many things in a pan without any fat).

Its not about replacing it...but more about learning how much is really needed and just getting rid of the rest.

and when she measured the spray in a measuring cup, if you were there you might have noticed it was bubbly... that's the aerosol mixed with the oil so she in fact did NOT get enough oil in her bread thus proving my point... and if you didn't get it... yes you CAN substitute pam for oil... lol

It would take about a whole can to get that 1/3 of a cup .
You pay a lot extra for the aerosol , so you can get thin layers for coating pans or something ,
Pam as a cooking oil is a giant waste of $$$ .
Never lend her any money , she is $$$$$$ retarded.

If your friend has a can of the stuff that is large enough, sure, I suppose you could do it---but WHY ??? It is extremely expensive and it is just a can of chemicals. Other, and better substitutes would have been...
applesauce
butter/margarine
Even spray "I can't believe it's not butter' would have been better.

Well you can-it really is just oil combined with a natural emulsifier and propellent (alcohol). It seems kind of expensive though.
