depends on the mind, but at times it's so incredibly easy it's frightening.
our brains are very good at selective attention, filling in blanks and not realizing those fills are made up, trusting based on fleeting emotion over common sense, thinking along the line of "well he/she said it, so it must be true", the list goes on. heck a few beer bottles and a good looking woman can get their way with most men despite all common sense.

Not difficult at all. All you have to do is fill a need to ignore the harsh reality that we all meet our end, and poof, you have religion and millions of believers.
