depends on the type of return you want to file for the standard deductions you only need your w-2 to itemize you will need w-2 paperwork your home loan company sends you that shows the interest you paid reciepts from charitable donations statements from your savings account showing the interest you were paid anything you paid interest on or interest was paid to you from if you file online you dont need any of the schedules but if you do it by hand you need 1040's (there are several different ones) and several other worksheets

Depends, if you are single all you need is an EZ form. If you have properties a house, married, kids, etc. you need a long form. Then if you have a buisness or worked under a contract, there are forms that go along with that. H and R block will charge you for all those forms. Lots of forms becomes no fun and hopefully you won't run into what I ran into with a buisness I had and got so overwhelming I went bankrupt!

Most of the paper work you need is located at your local postoffice. 1040EZ if unmarried, no deductions, etc. The easy form. Some more complicated forms also available. Taxes for dummies is OK, if you want to sit and read, and your tax sitiation is complicated. I went to Jackson Hewlet for a couple of years, they cost more that H&R, but I found I got more back, mainly because they found mistakes H&R made. Now I use Turbo Tax.
