You were told by who that they can't do a good job. What constitutes a good job? How do you know that so many of the get good reviews on their evaluations? Have you seen those evaluations? And how do their supervisors know they are gay? Doesn't the military have that ever effective "don't ask, don't tell" policy (sarcasm intended)?
I think this question is confused.

Well, you can't believe anything John Kerry says about our military . So far - this is still a free country ..and the tolerant left can forget about it . If there are gays in the military - say thank you and sit down . They have a right , like you do . God bless the United States Military - gay or straight !

You were 'told they can't do a good job'? What half wit said that?
Did you know that there have been gays in the military for thousands of years. Some of the greatest military leaders in history have been gay.
The gays (men and women) that I have been stationed with were all top performers. One female E-6 Marine friend of mine was 'penciled in' for orders to the office of the Commandant of the Marines before she allowed a nosy little witch access to her apartment to take care of her Guinea pig while she was visiting my family. The ignorant girl nosed through my friends belongings. She turned her in for being a lesbian. And after over 13 years of superb performance with countless awards, she was kicked out.
So whoever told you that gays in the military can't do a good job better get his head outta his/her hind parts and quit being so stupid!

Who ever told you that gay people don't do a good job doesn't know their butt from a hole in the ground. I know a lot of gay people who have VERY successful businesses, along with most of them that I know are vey happy easy going and FUN to be around.

Gay people can do just as good as anyone else. I'm gay and fought in Iraq, and I helped saved some of my fellow soldiers life. I think I did a hella job. If you don't think so, ask some of them I gave help to. By the way, I was a Medic.

EXCUSE MY LANGUAGE...BUT YOU'RE A ******* IDIOT. First of all, there is no known number of how many gay people are in the military because it's a "don't ask, don't tell" rule, so your number is totally made up. Second of all, sexual orientation has NOTHING to do with how good of a "job" someone does. Grow up and stop being so damn ignorant.
I served with many gay people (yes, they told me) and they did their job just as well, if not better, than straight people.

I'd be more worried about how you came up with that figure considering the "don't ask, don't tell" policy...No one knows how many military personell are gay and it doesn't matter. They all do their job and do it well. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with it.

Yeah, ask the gays that serve openly in like 30 other first world countries' militaries.
And for the people slamming the asker, you're missing the tone of his question in a big way.

Why are there over 38 million gay citizens in the U.S. who hold jobs, raise children, vote, own businesses?
