It seems like girls always say pretty and guys always say cute. Do they mean the same thing but guys feel weird saying something is 'pretty?'. How are 'cute' and 'pretty' different? Just curious.

I don't know a lot of guys that say cute to be honest, but if they did refer to a girl as cute then there is probably something about the girl that he likes about her(not limited to looks). If a guy thinks a girl is pretty then they won't say pretty, they will say said girl is hot or something like that. in my opinion, to say a girl is pretty implies they... well... look good but there is something that makes her undesirable or unattainable.

its kinda weird for a guy to say something is pretty, yes. Cute is just a form of prettiness. Like hot.

Pretty similar I think. To me, cute is just like a small child, but being pretty is more a grown up kind of thing.

to me, they mean the same. it's just that one gender uses "cute" and the other gender uses "pretty". it's how we are.

guys use the word "pretty" to mean gay, so that kinda ruins its use for what it actually means.
