The other person is right first cousin once removed. The removed means a different generation. Now if you have a kid they will be second cousins. If you share grandparents...cousins..... great grandparents second cousins and so on. I just had to look this up yesterday because my roommate didn't know what to call her cousin's baby.

Ok, listen to this. If the cousin you're talking about is your first cousin, then their daughter is your second cousin. If you have kids, your first cousin's daughter will be your kids' third cousin. Man, that's pretty confusing, but that's what I always thought was right.
