There are three major credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Check your credit score at all three of them because sometimes you might have different score. This can happen if there are some errors in your credit report or you have been a victim of identity theft. If you have found something strange in your credit report contact the bureau. You need to provide neccessary information to prove that your credit report is inaccurate. The whole procedure will not cost you anything but help you avoid trouble.

*******There is also a little known 4th credit bureau called Innovis. They are also required to furnish you a copy once per year, but it is unavailable through annualcredit report.com.
