I work for a general surgeon and we usually tell our patients to "ease" back into eating the greasy foods...if they just HAVE to eat them again. Ideally, you should cut down, or cut them out of your diet. But, hey, we live realistically here, right?
And to those who answered your question by saying that since your gallbladder's gone, you no longer produce bile; THEY ARE WRONG... your body still produces it...
your gallbladder only STORED it. In a matter of weeks, I'm sure you'll be eating the way you were before.
Unless, that is, you are going to change your eating habits for the longterm to make a lifestyle change. Entirely up to you.

Yes. You need to lay off the greasy foods for a while until your body adapts to your bile production. While eliminating these foods from your diet forever would be beneficial, you can start eating them again after about 6wks. The down side of this is that you may have diarrhea after you eat them. If this happens often. your Dr. car prescribe you a medication called Cholecyctyramin or Questran. It is a powder you mix in 6oz of water that you drink before you eat. This will bind to the bile in your system & prevent the diarrhea.

Yes; the bile that the gall bladder would have secreted previously helped to digest fats; since it is no longer being produced, you definitely want to go easy on the fats in your diet to prevent digestive problems.

Yes. Because the gall bladder secretes bile which is very alkaline and neutralizes acids. Because this capability is severely reduced by your surgery, it is best to avoid foods that force your stomach to secrete a lot of acid to digest them (such as fried foods).

They recommend no greasy foods before surgeries and strongly suggest none after; you body cant process all the fat the same as it did before thereby causing more loose stools.
