I live in an apartment complex.
Guy that lives next door has a loud stereo and throws parties every Friday and Saturday night.
On week nights I go to bed at 11 and on weekends by around midnight - 1am.
I called the management patrol people a few times and they ended his party. But he became pretty irate and things got testy. He still throws his damned parties every weekend till late hours at night and it's impossible to sleep.

He basically told me he doesn't give a isht about what I think about the noise.

What should I do?

im sure you must have other neighbors besides this one? if that is the case you can go make friends with them and ask them if these parties annoy them, if they do you all can band together and right a petition to either stop the partying, lower the party volume, or evict the neighbor from the complex entirely. if your just one person complaining the neighbor wont care, but if you have more then this would be more effective because more people are involved and management wont like that about three tenants are pissed because one person is bugging them. numbers are better than one.

here is another more mature way of handling it. go talk to the guy. introduce yourself, ask him how his parties are going. then tell him your concern, and ask him for a compromise. You will stop calling management patrol and the police if he can lower his volume or party once a week or every two weeks. dont give him an ultimate choice, give him options so he can pick. remember to be calm when talking with this guy. maybe bring a lady friend, guys tend to be nicer around women, and be careful.

if all else fails file a petition or call the real police and file a disturbing the peace report.

i like the petition idea.

That's one of the risks you take when moving into an apartment complex. There is always going to be someone there who does something to annoy some tenant or other.

If you've already had the management patrol there, I doubt that there is much more you can do--particularly since it is mostly on the WEEKENDS that these parties are thrown. Weekends are when most parties occur, as most people are off from work on Saturdays and Sundays.

If you really want to make enemies at your apartment complex, you could turn in a 'disturbing the peace' report to your local police--but I would really want someone watching my back if I ever did a thing like that.

Be careful not to pssss off the wrong people.

Don't call "management patrol people" ,call the Management. If this guy keeps the party going call the real police! If you keep calling both of these I'm sure something will be done. I had the same thing with the neighbors that lived in the house next to me. I'm sure they hated me,but in the end they moved. The police do not tell them who called. So it could be anyone that lives close. Good luck!

continue calling teh managment. if that does not work call the police. if that does not work tell the management that you view the excessive noise as a violation of your lease agreement and wish to be let out of it so that you can find more comfortable accomodations.

that is what most diecent people would do.

i would rent a very loud stereo for a weekend and program repeat loop and put Disco inferno into the system and then go stay at a hotell for the entire weekend with the speakers facing towards his wall.

36 hours of disco inferno would make just about anybody see your point of view.

If you cannot get resolution with Management for your complex, I would send a letter to the owner of the apartments notifying them of your intention to move and why. It doesn't sound like you have a neighbor who would take too kindly to having the police called on him. Unfortunately, we live in a day and time when people have a short fuse, capable of volatile actions over trivial things. I know you shouldn't be the one having to go through changes, but it's not worth possibly putting your life at risk. So, this looks like your cue to go house hunting.

People can develop very evil thoughts when they cannot sleep due to an absolute sewer living next door to them.

If you have a lease, check it out, even though you may have one, you could get out of it due the noise issue. Put every communication to the useless management people in writing.

Find a new place first, then leave.

Management doesn't give a rat's ankle as long as they get their money.

Complain to the management. I remember when I lived in an apartment complex, there a rule that if someone complained twice about you, then you would have to move out. Your complex might have something like that.

Keep records of when and how often you've complained.
