Man 1 buys half of total + 1 egg.
Man 2 buys half of remaining + 1 egg.
Man 3 buys the rest + 1 egg (I'm assuming that's half also).
(.5x + 1) + (.25x + 1) + (.125x + 1) = X
(4x + 8) + (2x + 8) + (x + 8) = 8X
7x + 24 = 8x
I got 24 for this answer, but I don't know if I'm right.
