I did my wedding at the Atlantis resort in the bahamas it was the most amazing time ever. It was a nonstop party. We had the wedding party fairly casual. It just depends on where you do it, and if your family is into traditional weddings or not. It was so much cheaper to do it there then it was to do it in California. Destination weddings are great because only the people that really care about you will take the time to go. It eliminates all those distant cousins, neighbors, and others that you really don't want at your wedding anyway. Good Luck!`

Destination weddings can be inexpensive to have, but you have to remember that your biggest problem with it is that you are not in the area, so you can not "check things out" first hand like you would in your own town. That was one of the biggest problems when we tried to plan a wedding in Hawaii. We ended up scrapping the idea because it came very apparent that not very many people would be able to attend, including immediate family. Just a little food for thought.

My cousin and her husband got married in Fiji for their destination wedding. She recommended a destination wedding to me highly when I was planning mine. It is more inexpensive than actually going all out, and it was a major saver on the stresses and strains you go through. She wore a very pretty dress and he wore a nice shirt and shorts. :) They both looked adorable and very happy in their pictures. We had a nice reception dinner for them when they came back, and we enjoyed a nice video of their ceremony. No one was annoyed that we weren't there. We were just happy for them.

You can do what ever you want for a wedding. You can have just you and him on the beach in Painters overalls., . . Or you can spend thousands on gowns, suits, flowers, music, pictures, food, alcohol.
Do what YOU want. It is Your day.
If you really want a specail day, plan a romantic vacation just you and him, have a ceremony with just you, and it will be in your hearts forever. It will be even more specail because it was just the two of you.
