It's a ringnecked pheasant which is actually an introduced species (many, many years ago) from india. They're hunted in most states and are quite lovely to look at.

A ring neck pheasant. Very good eating. But don't shoot them till there in season and you have a liscense. I love hunting them and eating them as well.
