Now, I'm not a Christian, but I have been raised in a Christian family. My parents are Christians, and we've always gone to Church. I haven't converted, and have no intention of converting, but I'll still go to Church because I think it's interesting.
Recently, one of the preachers was giving a sermon on how Christians are tolerating sinful behavior. Among other things, he stressed that promoting tolerance of homosexuals in schools is wrong. Basically, he wouldn't have a problem with teachers turning a blind eye on a homosexual student being harassed because of their sexual orientation. He thinks it's wrong for homosexual kids to have school clubs, etc.
I'm curious as to what people's takes are on all of this. If you're a Christian, do you agree or disagree with this preachers stance? Why?

According to their text, Christians have no obligation to stop sin around them, just not engage themselves. Thus they should bloody well keep their noses out of everyone else's business.

I'm a Christian. I agree with most of what the Pastor said.
But nobody should ever be okay with a teacher that turns a blind eye to a student that is being harassed for ANY REASON!
(I also believe that we should hate the sin, but LOVE the sinner, It's the sin we shouldn't tolerate.)

I completely disagree with the preacher's stance. I think it's sick when people do not care when another human being is hurt or teased on a smaller scale. It's wrong for any person to be treated in a manner that makes it seem like they are less than a human being. Regardless of my agreeing with someone's behavior or lifestyle, they should be protected simply because they are human. Tolerating a behavior and being understanding of a person are two different things. I do believe you can love the person and not condone what they are doing. I have many family members that, sadly, are racist. I do not agree with the way they think; however, I love them anyway.

I am not God therefore I can not judge anyone, the preacher you discuss, the homosexual kids you referenced, nor other Christians.
I just plainly go back to the love of God. God loves us all. If you were homosexual or having premarital heterosexual sex, I would tell my children to not follow suit. Bad company corrupts good morals. This is true, however to harass any kid shouldn't be tolerated. I don't agree with any of it.
It is the acting on the flesh by the way that is wrong, not the orientation of the person.
God Bless

It is popular in Christianity to have a sort of 'sin of the month' fad. Recently, the biggies have been abortion and homosexuality, although gambling and drinking are perennial favorites as well.
The Bible does call some homosexual behaviors 'abominations', but it also calls lies, adultery, and eating some kinds of shellfish abominations as well yet we never hear THAT being thundered from the pulpit.
We Christians are becoming defined by the things we are supposed to hate, things we supposedly won't stand for rather than for being just and righteous, loving and helpful.
I disagree with the preacher in many ways. Even if we are to hate the sin of homosexual acts, that is not supposed to equate hating or harassing the sinners. How are we showing love and compassion if we are calling homosexuals names or mistreating them, or allowing them to be mistreated?

It seems this preacher isn't giving very good advice, isn't Christianity supposed to (and I stress supposed) preach compassion and tolerance? Wasn't Jesus' message about love? It seems Christians pick and choose when to follow gods law if they disagree on something. I'm not a christian but I don't hate anyone and if I can at least try to accept and understand people, then a being such as god who is much greater should also.

when i send my children to school i place my most precious things in the hands of strangers and take it on good faith that these strangers will protect my children.
if these people turn a blind eye to my children being tormented bullied or persecuted for any reason then they are not doing their job. and they will have first to explain to me why they allow my children to be terrorized in a place where they are supposed to be safe. and then to the school board.
and last to their families because i would not stop the legal process untill that teacher was out of a job and his/her teaching liscense revoked.
bullying is a MAJOR problem in our schools and it should not be overlooked for any reason at any time. you all wonder why otherwise good kids end up taking weapons to school, well what would you do if every day you were required to go to a place where somebody would beat you up take your money and constantly torment and embarrass you. and the authorities that are supposed to be in charge of your safety just turned a blind eye on it.

I believe what the bible says, that it's a sin. Like all sin, you can choose to repent and turn from it at any time by accepting God's gift offered to you. So do I think it's wrong? Yes I do. Though nobody should turn a blind eye to someone being picked on. Sin should not be promoted and praised as we see it happening so much today, it should be dispised for what it is. That does not mean the PEOPLE should be dispised, but the ACT or DEED should be.
You point a finger at this preacher and put words in his mouth on what he thinks, did he SAY it was okay to ignore someone being picked on? You do not take evil action to counter evil actions, you counter evil with godliness. To say it shouldn't be promoted is one thing, to allow them to come to harm for it is another.

in spite of got here approximately to easily coaching lecturers as you stated: examining, writing, math, trades, and such. matters that prepare a pupil to make an amazing living. I agree that morals and ethics could be homestead taught. while colleges take over the popular jobs of mom and father, they bypass a line that's no longer theirs to bypass. in keeping with risk the answer would be the two homeschool our childrens or the college board could make those arguable matters elective until now the college 12 months starts.

I think the preacher should go take a flying leap.
Basically, we have this little thing here called 'separation of church and state' (state funded schools, you see). And if said Christians don't like it they have every right in the world to leave the country. And I suggest they don't let the door hit them on the way out.

I'm a real Christian...that pastor is a fool. Does he spend any more time on adultery, which affects many more people in a family and destroys decades of trust?
A culture of decadence is a sign destruction is coming; not that it has caused that 'destruction'....according to Scripture.
I have known and befriended all types and have entered their homes without preaching a word, and the sin, not the sinner is the problem. I 'can't throw stones'...i've got my own inadequacies.
