Just now the guy that i like asked me to go to the rodeo... problem is, i scheduled a babysitting job at the same time a couple weeks ago. i'm not sure if he knows i like him or not, because we've been friends for a while now. I tried to get my sister to take the job but she wouldn't. So now i've just resigned myself to sulking miserably.
what would yall have done in this situation, and if something like this has happened to you, what was it?

take the babysitting job, but ask him if he would like to do something else another time. tell him that you would really like to do something, but that you've had this babysitting job scheduled for a couple weeks, i'm sure he'll understand.
just remember though, when you tell him that you can't go, to somehow in some arrangement of words tell him that you would like to go out with him another time.

Invite him over to the babysittee's house and have a rodeo of your own....

Tell him you are busy that night, and then you yourself ask him to go out the following weekend.

i would just tell him the truth, that you'd like to go, but unfortunately, you have a prior engagement. i'd also mention that you'd like to go out with him another time, when you're not committed elsewhere.
