I know this may sound crazy, but YES you should respect the Devil.

Why? Because he was once an Angel of the Lord; he is a principality and a servant of God just like anyone else. And we don’t necessarily know all that is said between him and God.

Jud 1:8-10 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

Don’t fear him and don’t worship him, but do respect him.

The devil is the maker of evil and we are commanded to run away from evil as fast as we can get away from it. If doing this is being disrespectful to the devil, then no, you should not respect the devil. We are also told to resist the devil.

"Abstain from every form of evil." 1 Thessalonians 5:22

"Resist the devil and he will flee from you." James 4:7

Respect is something given to someone or something greater than you. Whether that greatness is positive or negative is irrelevant. Your respect that a gun can kill you, therefore you are careful with it. The devil is the same way. He may be evil, but he still deserves respect as a powerful being. Take that for granted, and you may find yourself falling into his clutches.

No. The devil is evil and promotes evil. Yet, the New Testament book of Jude does reveal that abusive speech even against evil celestial beings is not proper. Perhaps the reason is that anger does not accomplish the righteousness of God. See James 1.

Respect, no. Understand his many ploys, yes. The bible tells us that satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. That he is the father of lies. That he prowls the earth as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. However...as a Christian, greater is He that is in me (God) than he who is in the world (satan). I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ, my Lord. The bible says submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he must flee.

In these last days...it is of utmost importance that every believer know the word of God and to stand fast on each and every promise He has given us.
