I'll be 50 soon, alone, etc., but haven't really given it much thought. How scary is it? I think I'm going to continue to not think about it. Life seems to have always worked out so far ... with a few bumps along the way ... I imagine the rest of it'll be like that.

Why do you think only single women have these fears? You can spend decades with a man putting up with his bull and in the end he can ditch you for a younger chick or loose his job and in the end you have nothing. The future is not secure for anyone (unless you win the lottery) All you can do is make the best daily decisions you can, take care of your health and have a support group of friends and family (brothers, sisters) around you. Some people turn to Rx drugs to help with anxiety, but I would not recommend it.

Let me speak to you as a woman turning 50. I will turn fifty next month. Although I am married, I plan on outliving my husband even though he is 5 years younger. I am making plans on caring for myself and I suggest you do the same. One thing I am doing is creating myself for the next fifty years. I am doing my best to keep my health in check.I am investing in my physical appearance by getting braces and I have found a new hairdresser who is exellent. I am investing in retirement plans and saving cash for that special day.

I ran a 5K last year just to mark my pre-fifties. I actually did this to prepare for a 10K run next year but I changed my mind. I have discovered that this isn't the best way to protect my health. So I am working out with weights, walking after meals and jumping rope.

I also am considering my spirituality. My relationship with God isn't what it should be, so I will be working on this aspect of my life.

All in all, turning fifty is a door opening up to a better me.
