Genesis 9
12 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."

_______
Really, so That is what rainbows are for?

Couldn't he have just tied a string around his thumb or something?

Yes, god needs reminders. There were no rainbows before that.

The rainbow is a reminder to him, but how does he remember to make the rainbow?

If he remembers to make the rainbow, then wouldn't he remember not kill everyone with another catastrophic flood?

The string would not have reminded us as the RaInBow certainly also reminds each of us about HIS Covenant with Noah. GOD certainly has been good to eacxh and every one of us. Why are you so bitter with HIM? HE has given each of us the air, water, and food that are available for each of us to partake of as well as our means to earn a living and a spouse to make us happy. What more could we ask for? Have a great evening and a wonderful week!
Thanks,
Eds

The rainbow was a sign for man,so that we would not have to deal with the string around our thumbs.

What makes you think the rainbow isn't a ribbon tied around His thumb? After all, seen from space they are a circle not an arc. Could be a realllllly big thumb.

God provided us with the beautiful rainbow as His promise the world will not be destroyed by water again..... Oh dont worry He is not a forgetful God, He knows everything we have done and yet His mercy is upon us and through Jesus' death, we are forgiven... The Bible says every knee will bow and every mouth will confess....

Do you consider this a question or a rant?

The only things that God forgets are the sins that He has forginven.
