Does meat baked in a casserole dish in the oven cook faster with the lid on it or off?

Lid on keeps the meat juicer and the steam helps it cook faster.

Lid on it will cook faster, if you want to brown it take the lid off the last 10 minutes or so..if you cook it without the lid you may as well be eating shoe leather...yumm.

It cooks about the same time. The difference is, with a lid the meat will be moister. Lid off,the meat with be drier,but will brown more.

Lid on. If you want a crispy top or to put cheese take the lid off about 10 or 12 mins before serving and put cheese on.

Fact O'matter, it will cook faster after it has sat in the oven for a few minuites and is then covered! Try it, time it, I have! LOL I may be a geek but what the heck as long as it saves a few minuites..

it will get cooked better through with it off.....but it depends on the meat u plan on cooking
