I want to spend a few months exploring Canada, backpacking, busses, trains, etc. I plan on staying in hostels, doing odd jobs for extra cash, and just having fun.
Any advice? I am wondering how I should pack, how much money this might take, and where I should make sure to visit. Basically the more information, the better.
I have been doing a lot of research online, but I am looking for opinions of regular people, as opposed to travel agencies and such.
Also, I am from Washington State, US, if that's important.

Oh wow, you'll have such a wonderful time.
Some 'hot spots' you most definately should see would be Banff (In Alberta. There is hostel right in town, to), everything on the East Coast, and lots of Western Canada. The provinces in the middle aren't as important (Manitoba, Sask. Ontario and Quebec) because the sights aren't as popular. I would also suggest seeing the Territories- Nunavut, Youkon. I've never been but I've heard brilliant things.
Have a wonderful time, I hope this has helped!

You should visit Ottawa as well. The St. Lawrence River area is okay, but Montreal is interesting. Otherwise, once you're in the East head for the Atlantic coast. Remember that it'll get cold at night.
