In order of healthy to unhealthy, they are:
water, unsweetened tea, sweetened tea, coke, diet coke.
Diet coke has asparatame which is horrible and converts to formaldehyde in your body. ick!
Coke is loaded with high fructose corn syrup which is horrible and is probably the leading cause of diabetics in the US.
Tea sweetened with fake sugars (high fructose corn syrup and asparatame, etc.) should absolutely be avoided!
Unsweetened Tea (especially green tea and echinacea tea) are actually not bad for you! Even if it has a little caffeine. You should limit your caffeine though! Only one every once in a while!
Water - if more people drank it, less people would be so overweight, sick, and that sort of thing! 60% of body is made up of water, so drink up folks!

I will rate these in terms of healthiness (from best to worst):
Water, ice tea, coke, diet coke
Despite what some may say, diet coke is worse than regular because you are getting artificial things that are bad for you, even more than coke. Dropping coke completly can make you lose 5-15 lbs. in the first 3 months.
Ice tea is okay in moderation, without a lot of sugar.
Water is the best thing for you and the only drink vital to life. It is always the best choice and is good for your body.
Remember, fo every 1 sugary drink you must drink 2 glasses of water to help knock out the sugar in it..

Unsweetened tea is definitely better than coke (pure sugar) and diet coke (artificial sweeteners, especially aspartame have a host of negative side effects). Of course, tea still has caffeine in it, which can make your liver sluggish; on the other hand, it is high in antioxidants and many studies show that drinking green tea has thermogenic (fat burning) qualities. The studies about caffeine are mixed, but I think the iced tea unsweetened sounds much healthier than coke or diet coke. You could also try squeezing lemons into it, which help your liver make bile, which aids in fat metabolism. Plain lemon water helps too.

OK.. Regular and Diet Coke can make you gain weight. The regular.. for obvious reasons.. but diet I found out can also. They make the diet sweetener that they use so close to regular sugar that the body thinks its regular sugar and produces extra insulin to take care of the extra sugar... but when there is no extra sugar.. the insulin stores in your body and can make you gain weight, as well as be a precursor to diabetes...
I have been drinking green tea and have lost tons! ( I used to ONLY drink diet..)

the coke has lots of sugar calories. the diet coke and non-sweetened tea should have none, but would act as a direutic and make you go to the bathroom all day. the reason your friends probably lost a little weight is they switched from regular sugary coke to diet.

yes!! even if you drink diet coke- thats just as bad. its kinda like fake sugar or like sweet n' low sugar; for diabetics. water and tea is the healthiest. :) hot tea is better then ice tea though but if you dont like hot tea then drink water :) all sodas has too much sugar so you will lose weight if you stop drinking it so much. maybe a bottle or can once a week. you can still drink it just try to stop. dont stop all at once its really hard i've tried before :)

It should help -- I lost ten pounds within a few months of switching to water and unsweetened tea. I exercised regularly, too.
