But MOST religions are corrupt and distorted!

I hope you're not really comparing religion to politics, because that's what it looks like you're doing by asking this question.
To answer you though, I think the US would be showing the rest of the world that it thinks it's better than everyone else by banning other religions within its territories. One of this country's founding principles was the freedom to practice whatever religion you prefer without fear of persecution due to your preference.
If elitism or fascism is the mark of entering the 21st Century, then I suppose the US should indeed ban corrupt or distorted religions.

Ok, this is a flagrant troll from the Asker here, I see it. She's basically poking at people and trying to get them to rant about "freedom of religion" in the face of a threatened "ban 'em all" proposition that is going to happen....when exactly? As in *Never* because religious freedom was a foundation value of Western Civilization starting at least with *Plymouth Rock*?

Yep. I get it. ^_^ But....somebody's got to Play The Advocate sometimes.

And the truth is....there is a *tiny* grain of merit to the question. *Would* 9-11 have happened on our soil *if* we had not tolerated religious violence from our own people, snipers and bombers at the abortion clinics? I think it is a legitimate question to ask....aside from whatever you believe or not, violence and terror *is in fact* violence and terror no matter where it comes from.

So, rather than go by a vague guideline of "corrupt and distorted"....why not just simply go by a stricter and simpler principle? As in, why not ask if the followers of a faith "are a Threat to Self or Others?" If we only had the nerve to do this, the Jim Jones massacre would not have happened....and neither would the deaths at Waco.

What is *so wrong* with just flat out saying, "You still have Freedom of Faith, but the legality of it is *highly* conditional on your being *non violent*"? It's simple, direct, and to the point....it doesn't shut anyone out of politics, it doesn't single out any one faith over another--except to the extent that a faith might be more prone to *being violent* than another.

We could solve a lot of problems just by *insisting* that faith-inspired or Fundamentalist/Zealot violence will not be tolerated any more. Anywhere. And then by coming down with sufficient force to back up that statement.

Do we have the nerve though? Do we have the courage to imagine a world *without* Holy Wars? Do we have the courage to imagine a world *without* people constantly plotting and conniving over the "End of Days" like they are going to *inflict it* on the rest of us?

Sad part is, we don't. We have, on average, *one-third* of the population here on Earth, and this third just *cannot* lead and *will not* be bothered to think for themselves. They are addicted to religious thinking and to its attendant delusions of Holy Warfare and Armageddon.

Which sucks. You'd think by now that folks would have the sense to give up that militant, fundamentalist violence, an "eye for an eye" and the like. And it isn't all faith that is bad, just the psychotic, violent minority that ruins it for the rest of us....

But nope, nobody wants to get a spine on this one. Too bad, isn't it?

(Memo to the Asker: Now THIS is how you do it! *lol* Why not put some thought and effort into your trolling next time, huh?)

Since when did Russia ban communism?

Putin is the former head of the KGB. He is killing and detaining his enemies every day.

Sorry, but it is still alive and well in Russia

What in the world does that have to do with religion? Communism is not a religion

So do you believe that Russia was correct in dissolving the Communist state?

Marx taught, that religion was the opiate of the masses. Maybe you would be happier in North Korea.
