I submitted my federal taxes online, but didn't have the stuff needed for the online signature, and they said I had to mail a form it, but I didn't get a copy of the form. Does anyone know what it's call, like by which numbers?

You need form 8453-OL.

They usually have a link to print out the form after you log back in to the tax service you used to see if your return was accepted by the IRS. At least it did for H & R Block. As soon as your return is accepted, then they have a link that you can click on to print out the form. If somehow you missed it, you can go to the irs.gov site to print out that form. Here's the general forms and publications link:

Also, you have several weeks to mail that form in and the IRS will issue you your refund, whether or not they have received your form before they process it. But, if you fail to send it in at all, it will harm your chances of being able to file online the next tax season since they will have it on record that they never received your signature form. My son did not send his in for several months last year after he had filed, and they actually sent him another form and a reminder notice to do it!

It's not the 8879. 8879's aren't required to be mailed to the IRS. The form you used is called an 8453. One should have printed with your documents. If you can't find it, you can print blank 8453's from the IRS website. Then just write in the information. They'll accept handwritten ones as well.
