Let me guess... you're not a parent. ADHD is not made up, and I agree with Wizardess Arysa, it is over diagnosed.
It is real. And so is Tourettes.
Tourettes is a Neurological, or to be more specific, Neurobiological condition in the brain. Think of it this way: a Person with TS's software (mental abilities) are fine. Their hardware, however, has a wiring problem and this causes tics and vocal tremors.
Tourettes does not impede intelligence or ability to learn. My son has a high IQ, is sweet, loving, has friends, chores and homework, just like everybody else.
Since Autism and Tourettes are both brain related spectrum disorders, and sometimes the symptoms overlap, they can get jumbled.
I do not believe the two (TS and Autism) are related.
I recommend this video for you to watch: 'I have Tourettes, But Tourettes Doesn't have Me" by HBO and the TSA. It is an Emmy winning documentary featuring kids with TS.

Whoa there! Where did you hear ADHD was made up? And "in the line at Taco Bell" doesn't count.
ADHD is a very real condition. Now I do suspect it is currently being overdiagnosed. Maybe high-function autism is being over-diagnosed, too - maybe.
But even if there is overdiagnosis, that doesn't change the fact that the condition really exists.

tourettes is motor and or vocal tics a person is overwhelmingly compelled to do even if it hurts them or someone else. my son has it and has bitten holes clean through his mouth, dug his nails into his hands even after they bleed. autism is a disorder where the person seems to not be aware of their surroundings yet most are very aware. they are sometimes extremely smart in some areas and extremely slow in others. there are many factors that i could talk about but it is better explained at www.nimh.com hope it helps. my son has all the above and spina bifida.

ADHD is not made up but it is terribly over-diagnosed. Sorry but most kids diagnosed with it are just regular kids with a boring, impatient teacher who jumps at the chance to label the kid as ADD/ADHD.
Tourette's is not made up but is the result of a chemical imbalance in the brain.
Autism is also not imagined, and the cause is still unknown.

none of these disorders have anything to do with autism. tourettes and add/adhd can usually be controlled with behavior mod or meds, autism cannot.
ADHD/ADD are not made up, maybe too widely diagnosed, but they are real.
